I wouldn't lobby to open it back up, but if they did it wouldn't bother me.
The petition was to both open & provide steps to facilitate access...

The rationale that comes to mind is to consider it a separate site to meet training requirements - which I would consider a disservice to students.

Between P1, OG, Little River, Ginnie, Madison there are plenty of diverse opportunities.

Rather... something along the lines of "NACD, CDS, & other Cave Community Agencies..."

But yes - as I read it, facilities equal to those found at P1 and OG...

I didn't know that. I would be opposed to that.

My instructor took us there to learn difficult entries, but he FORBADE us from using it as a separate site on our Abe Davis applications. Peacock 1, Olson, and Orange Grove were ONE SITE.

I don't see anything in the Abe Davis requirements indicating separate sites\locations - is that a requirement of days gone past...?

I don't see it in the requirements, but it used to be Abe Davis was 100 dives of 30 minutes or more each (not including deco), 75 hours minimum total bottom time, and ten separate entries.

Nicholson was 500 dives, 375 hours, and fifteen entries.

As I stated before, my instructor insisted we change "entries" to "sites," whereas Orange Grove, Olson, and Peacock 1 were one site, Friedman's, Catfish Hotel, and Manatee were one site, etc.

I always liked entering at Olsen. In the rough it was a little demanding and the traffic was always lighter as a result. Then again, I have entered Waterhole and Challenge as well. It all adds character! (I guess I am a character at that).

I guess that I am a little antisocial and i definitely don't like crowds. P1 and Orange can be a cluster .... at times.

Don't forget Waterhole and Challange And yes, I have entered via Challange.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.
