Peacock and LR flood levels?

We dove Little River this morning. Tanic water went down into the cavern about 35ft. It was a bit colder water too. After that it cleared up and warmed up, viz was good with just slight milky like fog. There was almost no flow. Swam to the pipe and back. Did most of our deco before the water got cold and murky.

Yes, and rebreathers work really nice too that way We just stayed right at about 30 to 35ft.

Any insight from the "locals" on Cow and Telford?

Telford is covered with tanic water, and the river is flowing very fast, so you would need a scooter or boat to get to it. The goon part is you wouldn't have to wade up the run. No guarantee that it is divable, though.

Cow is still divable, but nobody can say how long. I will probably go tomorrow.

FWIW, I think the river will have to rise over 2 more feet to flood Peacock, judging by the difference in height between the water at P2 and the bottom of the slough. Peacock may survive at least until spring.

I passed Czechdiver and partner upon entering LR. Zero viz until you get down to the gold line. Milky water throughout. Chilly deco at 15 feet. Cold river water hits from the front then warm cave water washes over you from the back, repeat, shiver, and repeat. No one else diving there today. Water is over the sidewalks up to the first step on the stairs. Very dark water.

My wife and I dove Nicholson -> Cisteen Main line this afternoon. The Peacock Main line was tannic below around 60', but clear. Nicholson Tunnel was entirely tannic, but clear. Cisteen turned ratty after the major northward bend towards the Wishbone, at "it goes nowhere": tannic to where the water seemed to be swallowing our 18 watt HID beams maybe 10', 20' up the passage. After the dive, Bill Rennaker told us that this was typical for river water intrusion at Peacock-- that the Suwannee pushes in initially through the Nicholson and Cisteen tunnels.

Another diver told us that Peacock 3 was still OK: 30'-40' visibility and good conditions.

It's been raining in North Florida, Lower Alabama, and South Georgia all day long, and not just sprinkles, but steady rain all day long. The Mill Pond water level was up about 6-8 inches. I know the Mill Pond report doesn't relate to Peacock/LR, but it gives you an idea of the rise in the water.

When the Suwannee reaches this level of flood probably safe to assume that Little River is not divable.

There are some tannic vents along there that will get river water without the system flooding

Tanic to the bottom of the chimney, siphoning. My guess LR is out for the rest of the winter.

Peacock is still fine, and may actually survive the winter. I did the Nicholson to Cisteen this morning. Some "milk" at Pothole from the rain last night, but should clear soon. A little tanic in the Nicholson tunel, but still pretty clear.
