where do you get your line?

ok...so empty spools or just extra line...the coloured stuff...sure, home depot & lowes sell that braided nylon stuff cheap. but I've seen it...it's cheapo stuff. if you like coloured line, where are you getting it? Someone kindly referred me to Reef Scuba. anyone use it? It's about $15 for a lb of that stuff. any good?
I don't want cheapo line on my spools...nothing that's gonna snap. do you use 18# or 24# for your spools?
24# white probably for the reels, yes?
I'm not really looking for white....I happen to like the colours.

it is the same stuff you get from DR etc..
I use white but I think they sell it in different colors .

if you are looking for line for your mini spools go with 18, because I have 22' of 18 on those spools and thats about the max you can have and still be easy to clip snaps off to them. I just got a link from a buddy, have to find it, but they sell 18-72 in 1lb spools but it white line. You could always die it yourself.

that's one of the uses but I figured #18 for the minis - I'm thinking for bigger. thanks for the tip - be great if you find the link.

I'm going to have to pick at you a little here. The whole purpose of the mini spools is for the 2' and 3' jumps that you would otherwise be tempted to make visual jumps. I don't currently own any of them, but when I get some I expect to put maybe ten feet of line max on them.

We are testing a new type of cave line. So far, it is looking very good. I have used it on my primary reel so far, but it should work well for jumps also.

It was developed by the US Deep Cave Team, for exploration in Mexico (J2). It is about the size of #24 nylon, but made differently. It has a core of parallel strands, with a sheath woven over it. It is made much like climbing rope. I don't have the information here, but I will post it tonight, with some pictures. I also don't know what the price is yet. The first batch was only made last month.

Yes, it is exactly the same stuff all the dive shops sell as "caveline"
