Indian Springs Clean up day

There is a work day that will be occuring at Camp Indian Springs as noted in a previous post by Johnny Richards. This will occur March 19th at 9:00am and end at 4:00pm,lunch will be provided.

One of the main projects that we are needed for is removal of sandbags in the water. This won't involve diving but will require in water time which will require wetsuits. Also tools such as shovels gloves etc are needed in the removal of the sandbags.

There are several ways to get there,but I'd suggest looking at Yahoo or map quest for a map of Tallahassee. It is on the same highway as Wakulla springs state park which is 267,it is approx 2 miles west of the 267 and hwy 61 intersection. The park is next to the road and well marked.

Some very good people have worked very hard to try and gain access to Cheryl and Emerald. This is an opportunity to show the community that we aren't crazy people with death wishes,but conservation minded people who care about the resources that we've been given access to. To gain access to places sometimes it is necessary to gain trust and credibility,and this is an opportunity for us to shine. Quite a few cave divers have committed to coming,but the larger the group in attendence the bigger the message we send.

The Indian cleanup is an example of how we as cave divers help out. Asking for the rights to dive on someone else's property is a lot easier if the owners and managers see us as a solid partner in their recreational activities. This is a classic example of my "If you want coffee ... bring cake" approach to getting sites opened. /Ken
