quick intro from a french cave diver

hi all,


just a few words to introduce myself, so frenchie, mid 50's, and seriously diving since 4years eventhough i am diving since 35 years but too irregularely. I started cave diving last december with pascal Bernabé, world deepest diver, and french cave diving expert. i dont have a lot of dives so far 15.

longest dive 400 meters in at the bottom of a 45m hole in Le Ressel. My buddy and i, are diving on our own now, TWIN 12, S80, and oxy tank. We pratice in caves that we already did with instructors, and we gonna start in december new ones, and now, we know a lot of french famous cave divers such as, hubert foucart, pascal bernabe, jean pierre stefanato, sebastien lissarague, bruno megessier, and so on ...we also dive with these guys, so we're pretty lucky.

i am finishing my trimix training to go a little further and little deeper, but not too much, i'm 55 so let's stay at some reasonnable levels, and there is quite a lot to do, i'm not gonna go deeper than 60

i am a hogarthian type of diver with a few modification that fits well for me, as well as my buddy. we have almost exactly the same
configuration, from same manufacturers, we also like nice stuff, our visa cards dont like.
we like diving together, he's 20 years younger than i and we get along very well. we like diving together. We started together in tek and cave diving sharing exactly the same interest for diving the way we do and gear.
he's divemaster, cmas***,trimix adv, -114m. we have a lot of fun.

if anyone interrested i can post later some web links about french divers, or anything i have, and i dont know if there are some frenchies over here or some of you that can read french.

my dream would be diving in mines, and cenotes, i like really weird places with good visibility, no mud for me.

Iceland is also a place i wanna go in the clearest water in the world.

Welcome to the board! I almost went to Versaille a few months ago when I missed my exit going from Geneva to Vienne. Figured out my mistake around Grenoble but was treated to a nice country drive on the way back. Beautiful country you have. I'm going to France about once a year so we'll have to get in a dive sometime.

Vaucluse isn't walled out yet is it?

hi, thanks for reading, i edited my introduction since you read. I don't know what means "walled", not to familiar yet with all cave diving english wording,

all i know about fontaine de vaucluse, if it is what you were thinking about, is, it is very extremely difficult to dive there. You must belong the the local cave club. and it is under survey.

if you come to france we can probably dive, and the good thing we have, in France, cave diving is in the best places for food and wine, yum! isn' t great

easy to understand why not to much DIR divers in France, good food, good wine, good cheese, good bread, not too holistic.

let me know if by bad chance we can't dive, i can give a few advices for surviving a french cave diving trip.

I was just kidding around about Vaucluse. I think the last exploration was an unmanned submersible that hit around 1000 feet and still did not reach the limit.

That cave has an interesting history, from hard hat divers, to the Cousteau team, to Hassenmeyer with this experimental rebreather, to the submersibles. Still it "goes" as we say (which means not fully explored to the limit).

I honestly didn't know people were still diving Vaucluse, I thought it would take special permission. That is so cool, I"d love to dive there just due to the history. I read about it many years ago in Jacque Cousteau's "Silent World".

Would love to hear about any recent dives, etc.
