Not sure how many cavedivers on this forum are also "dry" cavers, but the WNS issue has created quite a controversy. Some claim it is spread through humans, some say it isnt. But all I know is every cave on public land in T.A.G. is closed. Needless to say, the WNS issue has also taken over several caving message boards, that used to be a great resource for trip reports and other light-hearted banter. Now all those sites are endless debates about WNS.

The only flaw in that logic is the "dry" caves are being closed by politicians who don't know/care that there is water is some caves. It they do like Tennessee, and close *all* caves on *all* public land, there won't be any cavediving in Florida if WNS gets down there.

On another note, I rescued a bat yesterday morning, she had fallen in our little pool!! Blown away by the wind!
I took some shots and although I don't have a macro setting, seems that her/his nose is clean!

Yeah... I guess we do have that risk. Hopefully it well never reach this far south, and the caves in FL are a hell of a lot hotter than in T.A.G. Perhaps the temperature will keep the disease from spreading down here.

T.A.G. is the the area where TN, AL, and GA meet. It's the epicenter for deep caving in the U.S., and has tens of thousands of caves.

I would hope so... but it seems like there are alot of people on this forum that arent familiar with "dry" or "vertical" caving at all. I guess it depends on what got you into cave diving... an extension of diving, or an extension of caving.

White Nose Syndrome is the worst thing to happen to the caving community. I only hope it goes away as quick as it came. It makes me very unhappy at the thought of losing access to TAG caves. However, I doubt WNS will keep certain die hards out, you can't really take a cave away from a caver at least some that I've run across.
