    Default White Nose Syndrome

I recall that a while ago this was a big problem in the US decimating bat colonies at a fast rate.
What is the update and have there been any solutions?
I like bats, they are my favorite animals after my two dogs.

I know a lot of people that were decimated by "white nose syndrome" in the mid to late '70's.

Sadly, it's still spreading. Now it's in Missouri: http://mdc.mo.gov/nathis/caves/

This page also has some good basic information about WNS and bats.

I've heard a lot of stories from fellow film workers from the 1970s and 80s (including the Miami Vice television show) where the white stuff reigned supreme unfortunately.
It's somewhat hard to imagine how it all was tolerated while working back then.

. . . and the state of Illinois has just denied access to all caves on state-owned property in an attempt to prevent the spread of the disease by cavers.
