Peacock Sat. AM (filming w/ very bright lights)

In the intrest of not blinding the hell out of someone, I wanted to put up a post for the very early divers at peacock. Bobbi & I will be shooting video from the cavern to the peanut restriction (one way) using 100W HID flood lights. We are hoping to be on our way and out on the cavern by 8:30am

Just curious? What type of lights? I didn't know they made 100w HID lights.

That reminds me of the "light sled" Mark Leonard and Jamie Hempstead built in the 90s for a photo shoot in Little River. Jamie was shooting too fast for a strobe to recycle, so they made the sled.

They had six halogen lights mounted on it, and attached a wing for buoyancy. Two 250-watt lights pointed straight ahead, and four 100-watt lights were angled away from center for a wide dispersion.

Jamie had an elaborate nine-projector slide show he used to bring to workshops and such. Lamar Hires and I were talking about it at JB last week - maybe he could set it up for a future workshop as a demonstration of the way things used to be.

Well the day has come and gone, so how did it go?

it went very good, even though i forgot to set the DVR to low light. The video is the best to date that i have shot. and the stills turned out great.

Its an automotive HID bulb ($12.00) in a tempered gasketed glass tube with a reflector (like a big DR 10W) that hooks up to an all sealed cord and runs on a motorcycle battery (gelcell) in a case (about 10 lb.). It all sounds fairly homemade, but it lights up the ENTIRE BALL ROOM (from side to side) @ the nest, and 200' with no issues. Burn time 45 minn.
