any glue how much the head will cost once done?
any glue how much the head will cost once done?
I think I will price at about $150. I am putting a price list together for DIY parts right now. I'll have it finished next week when I get back from DEMA
Guys, I just heard from Osram. They can build me some samples of a 20W LED running at 16.x volts and 1.2 amps. This thing is a single LED, not multiples on a single board. They are telling me it will be very close to 1000 lumens. The sample run must be a minimum of 10LEDs and drivers.
Now, the guys can also provide me with a Lithium Polymer battery pack and charger.
This light will not be for the light wallet. I expect to be in the $800-900 price range. Is there any interest in this unit. I can shave off about $150 by using cheap Chinese 18650 LiIon battery pack.
Thanks
OK, guys, back from DEMA.. I'll get to work on the three canisters that were ordered. They will go out Monday.
Thanks
PS. Got the 27W LED sitting on my bench... May fire it up tomorrow!!!
Two of the canisters are ready to go. Both passed the 260' test. One left to test.
I tested the 27W LED with my underpowered power supply. It was able to drive the LED at 19 volts but only at .2 amps. This thing is meant to be driven at 1.3 amps... At 0.2 amps, it looked great. I can only imagine what this thing will do at 1 amp. I have the drivers on order and should be here early next week. I am also waiting for batteries to build a pack. This thing is gonna rock!!!
Also, the light heads will be taken to be threaded tomorrow. I decided the first 4 will be powder coated. I don't have enough of them to do to make it affordable enough to anodize. May be the next batch.
Guys:
Just a quick update on things. I am currently waiting for some more items to arrive, but I should have (2) 12W LED canister lights ready to ship by next week. These will be complete- light, batteries, charger. I have been trying to keep the price as low as possible while keeping quality very high (agro glands, delrin, custom light head, locking latches, etc). It looks like my $400 projection was a bit low. Therefore, I am pricing the 12W at $450 shipped CONUS. It looks like, even at this price, some of the closest retail units are still about $200 higher.
An additional 2 lights will be completed shortly thereafter, I expect a few days after the initial 2 are finished as I am just waiting for a few parts to get them done.
Based on the number of PMs I have received, it looks like these are pretty much ALL spoken for. I would , however, like to know who is really interested so I can be ready to contact you as soon as done.
Again, thanks to everyone for their support. I will be making more of these, so if you don't get one now, get on the list for the next batch... My next goal is to try to get the 27W unit up and running. This one, I hope to bring out for about $800... We'll see.
Hector
