Ginnie's depth

I'm sure this has been asked before, but while looking at tampadiving.com, I noticed that Ginnie Springs - Devils Ear/Eye, is listed at being 173 ft deep. I'm just wondering if that is really correct? And if so, where is that depth located at?

Yes, it is correct, at least as for what has already been explored. It is waaaaay in the back.

I've dove there many times. It just doesn't "seem" like a system that would reach 170, so I find that interesting. Wish I could see that on a map.

But then, Peacock REALLY doesn't seem like it could hit that kind of depth, yet it does too. Interesting.

Here in Missouri, most springs we dive hit 150 and deeper, and they get there quickly (within the first 500 ft). Not going anywhere without trimix in your tanks or narcosis in your head!

I'll be presenting a map at the NACD conference that shows the new passage to a depth of 150 ft. To my knowledge, no one has surveyed it to 170 ft yet.

I beginning to learn (I'm slow) that everything in cave diving is a secret until everyone else discovers it.

Dipping to 170 after traveling 3500+ ft in, would make for some interesting logistics - at least from what I'm used to.

don't you know only certain divers are awesome enough to be allowed access to that section? the rest of us would trash it because we suck at cave diving.
