I was there 2 weeks ago. It was great, blowing fiercely. River is up 2-3ft though, but I doubt itd be any worse yet.

Default Troy Springs State Park conditions

River conditions can change rapidly depending on rainfall recieved in Georgia as well as locally. I have in the past dove Telford on one day and found out acouple days later that it was blown. Living in Live Oak makes it easy to check the different springs and conditions. Having at one time taken river level data for Suwannee River Water Management enabled me to see how fast conditions can change.
I dove Tellford last week and it was very nice, a few friends dove it in the middle of the week and said they had no vis until they were half way to the first sink. Another friend dove it last night and had to enter at the second sink.
While I was diving at Peacock today Tom Brown ( Park Manager for Itchetucknee, Peacock and Troy Springs stopped by and when asked said that the vis was poor. 2 divers had arrived when he was there and were told conditions were poor, they decided to dive regardless and were very disappointed.

I spoke with friend who tried to dive Troy today, he said the viz was a good 7 inches. He also said that he decented at 30 feet and it not seem to be clearing up at all.

He stoped by LR as well, and said looked bad as well.

Human Evolution makes me wonder: from HomoErectus to HomeSapiens, from Dry Caves to Wet Caves. Nevertheless, from HomoErectus to HomeSapiens, from Org. Caves still to Org. Caves! DAMN ...

    Default Little River conditions

I finished full cave Friday at Little River, having never been there before. We were told visibility was 30 feet before we left High Springs. When we pulled up to an empty parking lot and looked at the pool, it was not very encouraging. We ran the primary from the steps as was necessary and broke into clear warm water at the cavern. I was told about the current during the briefing and was surprised to find very little and the visibility was better than expected as well (probably 40 feet at least). I had no concept of the logistics of the cave although I had read about it. I enjoyed every turn and contour. The view during deco looking up through a small window of clear water with tannic clouds framing it was icing on the day. We did two very nice dives and had the place all to ourselves. It was a great introduction to a new site for me but I was assured by Josh my instructor that those low current conditions are not the norm for Little River.

Remember -- A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"

That definitely isn't normal (low flow)

I've only dove there once and the flow was ripping.....

Wanna go back though - the vis when I was there was pretty nasty, although I still enjoyed the dive. Nice to hear that the water has cleared there....
