October 24th 2009. Activities will include a cookout, campfire, door prizes and cave diving at a very special TAG area dive site, Craig's Mill Blue Hole. The cave at Craig's Mill is relatively short but is vast in size and is unlike anything else in the area( or Fla. for that matter). It is normally closed to cave diving so this is a special opportunity to dive a truly unique site.
The specific venue, dive information, and directions will be posted on the CDS website as soon as they are finalized. Camping and lodging will be available nearby. This social is being put on for cave divers in the TAG states(Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia) but all cave divers are welcome, even the Florida guys. Come join us on the 24th.
Craig's Mill is a big sinkhole. The main tunnel is over 500', average width is 200', depth at the back is just over 100', average passage height is 50'. Visibility averages around 50', I have seen it as much as 100'. If it rains, it never drops below 20'. October is usually pretty dry, though. Temperature is around 58 degrees.
