Recently found a 1972 vintage dive computer !!!
Was unearthed by Bobbi on 09/06/2009.

Can be picked up at Dive Outpost. Please provide NASDS certification plus credentials and serial number of said computer.

Ahh! NASDS Scuba Time Calculator! We were required to compute our SAC rates after every dive for our first 100 dives.

That's not mine; it's in my NASDS logbook pouch. But I quit computing my SAC rate after 200 or so dives. The problem with the STC is it computes psi/minute, rather than cu ft/minute, so your SAC rate changes when you use different cylinder sizes.

That's the same type of calculator that SSI uses to teach OW Students to calculate SAC rate. It is of no use when unless you always use the same size cylinder.

Couldn't you just convert the PSI to cuft for the tank used in the calculation?

You certainly could do that, however SSI sells the SAC Rate Calculator to Students so they "never" need another calculator to determine SAC. I like that they mandate SAC calculations in OW, I'm just not too fond of the tool they provide to do it.

I still have the same NASDS "computer" that I got with my first scuba certification from Hal Watts in 1971. I also still have the original Scubapro Jet Fins, purge mask and snorkel that Hal sold me although they have long ago been retired. When you got certified with Hal back then he sort of "required" Scubapro everything.

I even still have my original NASDS scuba workbook signed by Hal.
