    Default Indian Springs is Open

Indian Springs is open for the season. Caver 95 and I put the safeties in place Saturday. The vis in the basin and cavern sucks, but at about 60 feet or so, it clears up and we had 80 foot plus.

Indian Springs is a guided dive. (Yes, Brian, I know you don't like guided dives and will not support them).

Guide information can be found here:

The entire Capital area YMCA is in financial crisis this year due to the economic downturn. The camp has had to lay their on site maintenance staff. The YMCA will be having their annual fundraising effort, and if you are able to give a little something., Please contact Jason Ottinger who is leading up the Camp's portion of the fundraising.

Yes, I caught that, and would have corrected it, but had I done that, the old "Edited by Slüdge" would have appeared. How about sending a PM to TommyB and asking him to turn off that feature?

Sounds like you're asking to have the ability to edit posts removed from you. I like the idea personally....

There should be a notation left behind when someone edits "someone else's" words...

Joe, I understand 100% why you feel that way. I certainly wouldn't want someone changing my posts if I didn't understand why.

For two years our software allowed moderators to edit posts anonymously. During that time I edited many, but never ever ever ever did I change a post in a way that the original poster would object. Most were as the case above where the poster leaves out a word and I put it in. Once in a while someone would post an event and would accidentally put in a wrong date, such as June 4 when they meant June 14. I would correct that. But correcting misspellings and punctuation was the bone of contention. Face it, many adults write on a fifth grade level. I hated it when an intelligent, well-respect cave diver would make a post full of errors. (Two divers come to mind immediately, both very well-known and respected.) I would quietly go in and correct the English errors, and I'm sure had they known, they would have appreciated it.

But the current CDF administration feels posts should not be edited anonymously, so that's that.

(Something to think about: if you made an obvious, blatant spelling error in a post, would you prefer someone fix it quietly, or leave it for all the world to see?)

Leave it. I said it. If I wanted an wannabe english teacher modifying my internet posts, I'd pay someone to do it...

Editing "someone's words" without notification is absurd and honestly, if I had run the forum I would have removed you as a mod for doing so.

Luckily the current admins see the issue with anonymous editing and have some sense.... If you can't edit a post and have your mark on it, then maybe you shouldn't edit it?

    Seriously Russell.

Either way, back on topic... Glad Indian is open, maybe I'll ping a guide and go dive it this year...

    Joe

It's a feature that will remains on from a security standpoint. \\
What you guys did with PhpBB many years ago has no bearing on this software. Vbulletin is a whole different beast, with a whole different way of doing things.
