Default kudos to an honest cave diver

We dove Ginnie Springs on Sunday, August 24th. Once back on the surface, we realized that my camera was missing. We had taken it on the dive but did not use it. It was late in the evening and we had to drive back to VA the following morning, so going back in was not really an option especially since we had no idea where it was lost.
After arriving back in DC, I contacted Ginnie Springs and gave them my coordinates with a description of the camera. Sure enough, only hours later I received a phone call that a very honest cave diver had found my camera and turned it in.
I want to use this forum to express my gratitude to Bill ("Bird") from Bird's Underwater in Crystal River, FL, who runs manatee tours and teaches cave diving.
I am exceedingly grateful to Bird. The cave diving community can be proud to have individuals like him as members!

wow great message. good to see there are some good ones out there. I've been lucky enough to start meeting a few of the folks out there and it's a great community of honest, good people who are almost always willing to help out. most of them remember where they were. good post.

    Thumbs up

I have found that items lost deep in the cave (like my nitek duo) are as good as leaving them in a safe. In all my years of cave diving I haven't come across a dishonest cave diver. Seems we all have paid the price and dues to dive with a very select group of divers. Thanks and safe diving all. Ken

Bird is super nice and has given back lots of gear. Ask him about the set of doubles, Wing, HID reg's he found floating down the river.

Everybody I have run into has been nice wiht regards to gear and I tried to always pay it forward. Karma as they say. It has not been all that long ago that someone gave me back a new to me dry suit I left on a table. However as others will tell you be careful of leaving things at Ginnie during the summer time especially. While most of their visitors are nice. With some of the large groups you get there your bound to have a few bad apples in the non diving crew. In the cave your pretty safe but topside be careful. I do have to say though that this summers crowd seemed to be better. Something about having a moble police unit parked there and instead of Ginnie Jail they had real jail for the worst offenders.
