Sally Ward work party

This Saturday (8-15-09) the Friends of Wakulla Springs will be constructing a bridge over Sally Ward. Please come on down and get involved with this project as I believe it would be a great way to make an impression to the State Park and Friends of Wakulla Springs. If you Have a WCDC Shirt wear it OR any other shirt that will clearly show that we are divers.

Here is the message I have received.

On August 15th. we will be installing the new bridge over the Sally Ward Springs. We could still use some volunteers for this event.

Work starts at 8 AM and will finish by 4 PM. The Friends are furnishing the lunch.

Join the Friends of Wakulla Springs and become active with this group on an ongoing basis. This will have an impact that is ongoing,will get more attention in the long run. I have been a member for quite awhile,and have been actively involved.

I just got that email this morning as well. What a great idea. Just wish I'd been informed before the 14th that on the 15th there would be a work party. Kinda already have other plans.

If more help is going to be needed. I'd be willing to help. Could bring all sorts of tools, generator, saws, drills..... Just need a little more notice than 24hrs.

I am talking to the park and Friends Of Wakulla Springs to find out about future projects so I can get it out to you guys with a months advance or more.

This Sally ward Project was sudden for me too. Just let it be known I will be out there doing my part and giving a good representation of the Cave diving community.

I will also be attempting to install a Fireman's pole with a trap door for easier access ha ha.

EDIT: That link takes you to the back gate. Go in the main gate, and about 1000' on the left is a wide grassy strip (past a little bridge). There should be other cars parked there.

Just Talked to Jackie Turner and she said they are overbooked with volunteers.

I gave her my email and phone number to tell me about more projects in the future so I can inform you all when I get them.

I appreciate the local divers that could make it on short notice getting out and demonstrating that the cave community cares.
