Wow I had seen some info on this last week. I'm the hyperbaric nurse at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. We operate two monoplace chambers here. We are NOT DAN credentialed yet. But this may happen in the future. As with all diving injuries, you must call DAN first to locate the best chamber location for your needs.

Does Orlando still take DCI patients. I know St. Joe's in Tampa closed several years ago. Either way, Orlando or Jacksonvile its a long way to go with your in pain or need a chamber fast....

    Default Orlando

Florida Hospital Orlando in downtown does. I think they have people on call 24 hours a day. I will ask the guy on my shift tomorrow at the fire station.

    Default DAN can Tell

DAN can Tell us where the next available chamber is and perhaps they can help influence the decision to close the chamber in a favorable way. As a DAN member I'm going to forward this post to them.

DAN's chamber listings aren't necessarily accurate or up to date. It's also not likely that DAN has much influence on hospital administrators who are only interested in cutting budgets and making more money. running a chamber for DCS cases is a huge money pit. The money made from running a chamber comes from wound care cases that are scheduled M-F from 8-4. The healthcare system is run by insurance companies and they have no interest in caring for people. It's all a out the bottom dollar for them.

It is terrible that your local chamber is closing. Not to start a debate but I will say that our government run healthcare manages to provide hyperbaric chambers to us in various cities/
