WTB scubapro DIN adapters

i usually get mine from liesure pro, but any shop that sells scuba pro should be able to get you a couple.

I wonder if the ones from Trident are just as good as the SP ones as anything of that nature where I live is special order at MSRP from the one dealer here.

As much as I don't care for Leisure Pro, I don't think I'd touch the one from Trident. I like the one there, "Fits most older Scubapro regulators." A Mark 2, a Mark 5, and a Mark 10 from 1985 take three different fittings; how can they say this fits "most?

If you get the one from Leisure Pro you know you'll be getting the genuine Scubapro item - albeit gray market. The price isn't much higher than dealer cost.

Sludge Baby, Sludge Baby: Here is the deal on the ScubaPro DIN Adapters from the Trident Boys. Their # A194 fits the 20's and 25's. The other one they offer (I can't remember the number but it's in their cat) fits the other ScubaPros. In 2007 I purchased 30 of 'em for all my 20's and 25's. At that time they were an outstanding product. The metal hand wheel is a real plus, subbing out for the cheep, POS plastic hand wheel that is offered by ScubaPro. What I did was to use the ScubaPro DIN Knob Retainer with the Trident product, essentially only using the metal hand wheel from Trident. I like Scuba Pro's Retainer better. The metal hand wheel is outstanding. If you don't have the ScubaPro Retainer, the Trident Retainer works OK too. These were $31.98 Dealer Cost back then. If you are interested in the older version I'd encourage you to call the Trident Technician who deals with this @ 818-998-7518, Left Coast time and discuss specific fits. If all y'all ain't a Dealer...call me.
I put several on John Forder's regs so I guess you could ask him too.
So far, no blow-up's, explosions, or even bubbles using them for me.

Okay, so the A194 will fit the Mark 9, Mark 10, Mark 10+, Mark 11, Mark 14, Mark 15, Mark 16, Mark 17, Mark 18, Mark 19 (if you can get one from Europe), Mark 20, and Mark 25. It doesn't appear to have the secondary o-ring gland to fit the Mark 2, Mark 3, or Mark 200.

They neither say nor imply this, but I'd be willing to bet the A166 will only fit the Mark 5 and Mark 6, although with the Mark 6 you will lose the pneumatic feature.

ScubaPro no longer makes a DIN adapter to fit the 200, 2, 3, 5 ,6, 7, 9, or 15. I'm not too sure what the A166 fits, BUT the Trident Boys will know for sure. I think the A194 will most likely fit the 10, 11, 14, 16, 17, 20 and 25, as that's what the ScubaPro DIN adapter fits. The DIN Adapter for the 2+ is different.

I guess everybody gets to observe an argument between two experienced Scubapro technicians, both of whom hold the Expert Tec rating, although they approach the art/science from two different directions. One (Jack) is a by-the-book sort of guy, while the other (me) throws the book out the window and lives in the real world.

A little background: in the modern era, Scubapro has had three different yoke/DIN retainer designs. I'll designate them by their first application: the Mark 2, the Mark 5, and the Mark 10.

With the Mark 2, the sealing o-ring is about a half-inch from the end. The Mark 5 looks roughly like this, but is just different enough to prevent them from being interchangeable. This o-ring also holds the saddle on when the retainer is removed from the reg. The Mark 10 has the sealing o-ring on the end.

Several years ago Scubapro changed to a retainer that had o-ring glands in two places, to fit either the Mark 2 style or the Mark 10 style. You just use the correct o-ring and leave the other gland empty.

The Mark 2 style is used by the Mark 2+, the Mark 3, and the Mark 200. The Mark 5 style is used by the Mark 6. Everything else uses the Mark 10 style.

So although Scubapro's literature may say they no longer make a DIN fitting for the Mark 15, they do. If they say they don't make one for the Mark 2, they're wrong here, too.

The only modern Scubapro regs they no longer make a DIN fitting for are the Mark 5 and Mark 6. The Mark 7 should never enter this discussion because the yoke is made into the body.

It's not very likely that you'll run across this situation. People go from yoke to DIN all the time, but has anyone ever heard of someone converting DINs to yoke?
