A friend of mine works as an underwater cameraman for the History Channel, and they did some filming there. I think he told me that the caves were hard to get to. He's supposed to be back in the country in a few days and I'll try to find out more.
Looks like Lamar and friends obviously have: http://www.diverite.com/expeditions/domincan/index.htmOriginally Posted by skiwez

Dang! I just saw this- if you havent left already- there is a sweet ass club in the hills above Santo Domingo- Its called the pit or something like that- You drive up the hill, park on the road and walk down into what looks like a small cement amphitheater- but the door is at the bottom- when you walk in you seen huge multilevel platforms built into this massive cave room- stals hanging from the ceilings and everything- and 100 decibel merengue (sp?) with hot chicks all over. That is far and away the best dance club I have ever been to. The cave diving is to the west- there is a german couple running a dive shop out of a little resort down there in Barahona that run people to all the caves along the southern part of the haitian border- lots of good stuff according to Lamar as well- We got to fly low over the northeastern part- you can see huge gaping cave entrances in the jungle- but there are no roads for hundreds of kilometers- you would need a good pilot and a jungle penetrator to get to them.Originally Posted by skiwez
