Mr bgillespie82 is the club's El Presidente, so he's actually a better contact. Especially considering I'll be out for the weekend in a couple of hours

So what would YOU be willing to pay? As i mentioned in another post in another thread the diver based wtp for wakulla and sally ward is in the mid $8os range. The $300 number in my survey was one of a set of prices that ranged from $25 through $300.

Oh... and i think it is already open to qualified divers...<smile>

Dunno if I'd consider it open to qualified divers... The way I understand it, you must be qualified, and have a mission considered worthy by the park/state(worthy enough to permit)?

You can't just be a qualified diver who wants to dive for fun...

We are just discussing the definition of qualified or for that matter the difference between exploration and fun, most would use the word recreation instead of fun though. I do understand that it is being suggested that the park open up more spots for recreational purposes, was just having a bit of fun from a satire perspective....

Cool, I just did, so where do we go from here?

    Safe diving,

I am glad you posted it reminded me that I had been planning on joining the club, but never remembered when I was near a computer.

I beleive that the state park system is not seeing the trafic to Emerald to justify any work for opening additional systems. When I went in April, I signed in only a few signatures down from my sign in for February

In an effort to improve the traffic numbers (and justify the opening of Sally Ward) I plan on diving it any chance I get If you (or anyone else) is looking for a buddy for Emerald, drop me a line (Vis was decent two weeks ago).

I'd be okay with $25 per visit and a $25 yearly permit, which is what I pay to dive another deep(er) system......

    Pardon the stupid northerner here...
Why are so many FL state parks closed to (diving or otherwise) recreation?? Isn't it right there in their mission statement?

    http://www.dep.state.fl.us/parks/aboutus.htm
    Mission Statement
To provide resource-based recreation while preserving, interpreting and restoring natural and cultural resources.

Since the state is exempt from liability for recreational activities, I don't get why its so much work to get access to public land. Has "preserving" taken over as goal #1 from providing resource based recreation?
