Sorry for the late report. TB and I spent the weekend of 5/16 - 5/18 putting miles on a rental vehicle and hours underwater!
We made a few dives at Ginnie on 5/15. Flow through the ear was good with excellent vis. The first dive we jumped over to hill 400. Our second dive was up the gold line to about 950 feet and then we took a jump to the right. We followed this line for about 600 feet and we saw a white arrow with "steve" written on it. Is this the Steve Bergman Arrow? We turned the dive shortly afterwards. We thought we were making a loop but were not positive so we retraced our route and decided to confirm our suspicions on the next dive. The next dive we did confirm that we were on a loop through the Big Room and the Bone Room!
We stayed at Chateau H20. What a great place Michael Angelo has put together there. Very quiet and secluded. It was definitely setup for cave divers by cave divers! Kim is very friendly and an excellent hostess. She had everything ready for us when we arrived!
Friday night we picked up some trimix from Wayne at Amigos (what a great new computer setup there!). Saturday morning we headed to Eagles Nest. On the way we made the trek to Buford and I jumped in for a look around. One thing is for sure; free diving is not my forte! Buford was beautiful though, I will have a tank with me next time. We made two dives at Eagles Nest. The vis was excellent and other than the killer insects we were the only ones there! Great dives.
Sunday we headed over to Forty Fathoms Grotto. It's been about 6 years since I dove there. It may be 6 more before I head back. At about 30 feet the vis was maybe 15 or 20 feet and got much worse the deeper we went. At 200 feet the vis....there was no vis! All of this for a $50 entrance fee. We should have stayed at Eagles Nest!
