I understand that there is a guy who hiked the AT here in the buff...must say that would add some value to the process.

    Awesome--
If you have you mixing Cert. you can do all your own mixing and just put the key back in the hiding place and write down how much gas you took with you.
Yes I have all my mixer cards, etc.
    What brings you to Switzerland?
Wife is "moving on up to the east side". This is the next step in the company ladder.

Heading over on the 27th of June for a week to check out the housing market. Most likely will hang our masks in the Nyon area.
Depending on if / or where we can find around 3000sft home.

Understand HE is expensive over there. Guess it might be time to get that Inspo CCR -- Yea wife would love that idea -- not..!

I'm sure I'll have a ton of question / issues once I hit the street over there in june to scope it out.

    Regards

I am an American living in Switzerland. The Cave and Tech diving here is good. The water is cold but the diving is some of the best. The Swiss Cave Diving site is a good place to start. Do you know where you are going to live? Filling tanks if you have your own can be a issue. If you want to get hooked up with a Tech and Cave diving shop, the only one in Switzerland that I can speak for is http://www.crazy-divers.ch/index.php. Richard is the owner and speaks good English. With him you pay a one time fee and you get fills and uses of all the equipment he has in the shop. He is the cheapest tri-mix fills in Europe. He supports the tech diving crowd. There is always someone hanging around the shop to go diving. If you have you mixing Cert. you can do all your own mixing and just put the key back in the hiding place and write down how much gas you took with you. He has 11 compressors so filling on or off site is never a issue. If you have any ?? just pm and I will be happy to Answer. What brings you to Switzerland?

Better start thinking square meters. If it anything like France, some homes include caves. To bad cave = basement

    Cheers!!

    Hi Tommy,
Sq meter is the word here. I live in the German part of Switzerland and just to rent a place you need your dive bag full of money! I will tell you that you will put a new meaning to the words " You want how much for that house?" We do have a big CCr crowd here. The caves here are best used with a tri-mix as they are deep. How many bedrooms will your family be looking for in a house or apartment? Houses are VERY expensive 500,000 for a three bedroom and that is in the country not close to a city. Owning a car is a bit expensive also Parking is a problem. Traffic is bad. When you look for a place to live the market goes by rooms not bedrooms. I have a 3 bedroom but it was listed as a 41/2 room. They count living room and dinning room as being part of the over all size. The french part of Switzerland is a little special. The diving is good and a real adventure

    Hi Expat.

Company is leasing us either a Mercedes S class or (BMW 5 or 6 not sure which) for the wife's car. I'm shipping over my Chevy HHR seeing how it's barley just 1 year old.
We will not be buying a house over there, Renting. Company will be covering the housing expenses while we're over there. Villa/Chalet

We need 1 bedroom to sleep, 1 bedroom for dive gear, and 1 bedroom for guests.
2 car garage- Must have fence also
3 dogs coming over with us. 2 dobermans and 1 fox terrier mutt thing.

Country would be good!! we live in the sticks/woods now.

And Thanks for all the info!!

Beautiful dogs! We used to breed and show Dobes, too; lost our last one last September to a stroke. (The central nervous system kind, not the diving kind )
