Default Ginnie Dive Report April 30-May2

My buddy Ryan and I dove Ginnie April 30th to May2nd.

    Thurs.

Arrived Late to Ginnie as we drove from SW Florida. After my light failed when at the start of the dive we regrouped and started over. This was to be a pretty quick dive as we were tired from the drive. Enter at the Ear swam over to the Catacombs. Ran some line and messed around in the Catacombs diving sidemount let us poke around some really cool places. Exited via the Eye. Max Depth 66ft Dive time 46min.

    Fri.

Dive 1: Enter the Ear swam the main line up to 1200ft, turned and came back going through the Lips Bypass then back through the Lips Bypass (we didn't want to leave our lines in) exiting Gold Line through the Lips doing our deco in the Eye. Vis at 900ft-1200ft on the Gold Line was milky in nature w/vis being 50ft other than that vis was great...flow was up! Max Depth 95ft Dive Time 95min.

Dive 2: This was a great night dive, we believe we were the only ones in the System as no other vehicles, bottles, or lines were present started the dive at 9pm. Enter Via the Ear jumped over to the White Room Line went into the White Room, exited and then went to the end of the line before turning and exiting and doing our deco at the Eye. The vis around the White Room jump was a little Milky and continued to be that until the end of the line. Max Depth 97ft Dive Time 80min.

    Sat.

One long dive as we had to get on the road to get home. Enter the Ear jumped over to Hill 400 swam the Hill 400 line to 1800ft before turning, made a slow exit taking in the cave knowing we wouldn't be back for a month or so. Exited and did our deco in the Eye. Max depth 101ft Dive Time 134min.

Sounds like some nice dives. Didn't know the White Room had a line. Last time I did it we had to run our own. Goin up this weekend, can't wait to get in the water!

They were very nice dives, some of the best I have had in Ginnie.

The White Room doesn't have a line. There is a line arrow with a name on it (can't recall the name) on the line that marks the tie-off to the White Room.

Berman. That arrow has been there since the late 1990s. Several months after he died the arrow disappeared and a plain white one was in its place. I moaned and groaned on the internet for several years and then about 2005 it reappeared. Or one that has "Steve" written on it in what appears to be his handwriting.

I like to believe it's really Steve's arrow.

Wow...thanks for the information. Steve Berman was the only "Steve" I could think of and knowing that is his arrow makes it that much "cooler" of a place.

Another Ginnie History question...what is the story on The Bats?

I know of one more of Steve's arrows in the Devil. It's off the "beaten path" but less than a hundred feet from the gold line, so at least one dive per trip I slide over there to make sure it's still there.

As of January 1, it was.

    Crying Ginnie

I cannot dive, but love to hear all about it. I have a 2 story residence with rooms for divers. If you need a place with a clean bed, hot shower, (2 doors away from Extreme Exposure) for rent on Main Street, in High Springs, Florida. Convenient for classes, or for getting tanks filled and buying equipment. Nightly, weekend, or weekly rates. Restaurants nearby. Groups welcome I can sleep 1 to 6 for same rate. Bathroom outside of room. Nothing fancy, but beats camping. Available beginning Memorial Day.
