I am looking at two different lights the 2009 Dive Rite LED LUX w/1000 lumens or the Dive Rite 15 Watt HID 1000 Lumen light. I was looking for some preference on the LED and HID and which would give off more light.
Thanks,
Jason

I just got certified and used the LUX. It's really really really bright in the cave but it spreads light everywhere so it's hard to signal. i.e. to okay I had to circle the whole diver in front of me instead of being able to okay on the wall/floor like everyone else. If they could make a focusable head for it I'd love it to death.
I have dove the Dive Rite LED for 3 yrs. Loved it. I also dive a lot of other Dive Rite gear. Recently I saw many people having issues with the newer Dive Rite lights. There lights are not as good as there other gear.
I switched to LED and went with the SALVO 12W Rebel LED. WOW What a great light. IT holds up like a tank, and has the cleanest light color in the Cave. You work at a shop. Give Berry a call at Salvo. He can probably help you with price, if you are an instructor. If yo are not teaching call anyway it would benefit your shop to pick up there line. They stand behind there products without question. Overall this light works better than the Dive Rite and I believe the workmanship is hands down better.![]()
What type of diving do you do or do you want to do? That might make a difference in which light you choose. Do you travel a lot or dive in remote places? A nice benifit to an LED is no bulb to break but if something goes wrong you cant fix it yourself. Usually they are not focusable. HID's penetrate water farther and are focusable. I use salvo lights as well and don't know the DR line as well but depending on what diving your doing that might make up your mind on LED or HID.
Good luck!
