The NSS is an organization of cavers. Not "dry" vs "wet. If you want to be a member of an organization of just cave divers, the NACD is that. I repeat my question, are you a life member of the NACD? The reason I ask is your statement that you would become a life member of the CDS if it were not for requiring NSS membership.

Society sections provide a framework to bring together cavers with similar specialized interests. While a few, such as the Cave Diving Section, may require specialized skills for active membership, subscriptions to a section publication are available to those without that skill but with an interest.
Sections of the NSS is a group of members. How could you be a member of the subset without being a member of the whole?
