well I got here last night, since then the road between peacock and luraville has
been closed but I can still drive through for now, but it's come up about a foot

1. Flood record pole at the R51 bridge.

As an aside...since Holton Creek was mentioned in the thread.....
When things clear up and get back to "normal"....someone needs to take another look at Holton Spring (actually, probably another resurgence of the Alapaha River, like the Alapaha Rise).
It's listed as a first magnitude spring (a category that needs adjustment, no doubt)....I dove it with Vaughan Maxwell on a big single w/y-valve setup via dragging a johnboat up the run in 1979 or so......it droped vertically from the northern edge of the basin down to 170'-plus, where there is a small (if i remember correctly, 6-10 ft. opening) that continues. Viz was a tannic 8-10' at the time. We told Sheck and he and Mary Ellen laid some line in the cave, down to at least 250' (or more, I don't remember)...it was still going. I'm sure it will be blasting tannic water for some time after this flood, obviously
They also, prompted by our initial discovery, laid line in the Alapaha Rise...I believe they surfaced in a sink a short distance away (again. by "short" I do not totally recall)......
Something to contemplate.......there's more than Ginnie, Peacock, Madison, and Manatee out there, kiddies......doesn't always have to clear water!
There's a massive system there (i.e. the Santa Fe Rise/Bellamy Cave system), it just has to be timed right to be able to access it (or maybe it's a jail dive....dk?).

This is about as bad as I've ever seen it-! thanks for posting the photos. I remember numerous times when the Branford Dive shop went under & Gene Broome had to swim home-! Gators are not the primary problem during these conditions: Cottonmouths, red/army ants in clusters & wood ticks are to be given your utmost attention-! Seriously-! Please be careful & watch your surroundings wherever you try to get to at this time.
