When i was a kid, not that im old now, we used to ride motor cycles all day and swim in the sinks. On ocasion i saw someone diving the sinks as we stoped to swim and cool off in them. Encounters were positive and impacted both my familie's and my opinion of the cavers and access to the systems.
As ive grown up i have watched as the diving and access in generall to the sinks of my youth has been cut off. I have found my self very bitter about the policies that have been instituted and at the people resposible.
Now in college, and activly learing the many skills and techniques in safe cave diving, it is nice to see that those places once closed are beeing reopened. If you've grown up in the Tallahassee Wakulla area as i have you know that almost all long time permanent resident know each other. It is truly a small world I intend to, as an adult, help minimize the influence that the elietest agencies have in my back yard.
I would also like to comment that with the eventuall reopining of Emrald, that cavers should at least make a small attempt to be nice to the locals and incurage inquery and educate those that you may meet here in Wakulla. As we still operate on the home town politics system ,and one bad encouter with the right old redneck or their kid can "make a bigger #### pile then heard a' horses."
Just wanted to get that off my chest after an encouter i had horse back riding and meeting a renigade caver who was kinda rude.
