Has anyone found and had success with a collapsible dolly for hauling scuba tanks. I'm sidemount so you know the drill. I saw one on the Grainger web site (6YB411) but have not seen it personally. Just wondering if it would hold up at JB, Peacock, etc. Sure would save some space in the truck or trailer. Thanks,

I just loop the bungie cord loop over the valves and it works well. What it doesn't do well is carry two or three stages. Probably with some lower straps to stabilize the bottom of the tanks it might help, but that kind of takes the unfold and pop 'em on aspect out of play. As is, the loose tanks kind of wander off the platform.
I bought a collapsable dolly from Lowes, it costs $40 if I remember correctly... The box says 200lb capacity. I'm currently on my third one as the other two have foundered, once with (2) AL80s on a dirt/walking trail, and once with a 28" TV set. If you have solid, smooth ground, it will handle HP130s(2), but if its at all bumpy, the wheels fold under(the locking mechanism holding the wheels out is plastic, and sheer away).
I'm looking forward to breaking this 3rd one, so I can just swap it out for a traditional dolly, don't give a **** if I have to strap it uptop the car.
Not a dolly, but a collapsible hand truck. My mother went to JB with me (she's an open water diver but loves to meet cave divers), and a couple of days later saw this on QVC.

After seeing me lug my scooter to the spring and back, she thought I'd like it. It isn't the heaviest duty I've seen, but it carries either a scooter or a set of doubles very well, and folds up to almost nothing.
1 Case of beer + 1 stick of 1.25" .120 wall DOM tube + tube bender + 2 wheels + Welder + 3-4 hours = the exact hand cart you want.

I bought one this morning from Grainger. It's rated for 250lb and collapses very nice. It was listed for $145 but I got a company discount and didn't pay tax so i got it for $130. I'll be trying it out this week and I'll let you know well it performs.

My buddies and I use this with almost #300 capacity, and another for near #500.
I've seen them both, they are sturdy and strong. My only beef is that since I first bought the #300 it was $40, now its near 2x the price so I guess word is out, and its selling well.
Dragged it through rough terrain, soak it in water, going strong now 2 years old.
I bought one from Boaters Supply, for use moving stuff on and off my boat. I'll be trying it out for moving sidemount tanks next weekend. I'll post a report.
I bought one at Wal-Mart a few years ago. It did not hold up well to a set of double 104s, with regs, backplate, lights, reels, etc... (it's holding lip snapped in half, and ended up in the trash can at Jackson Blue). A few years ago, a friend of mine gave me one of much better quality (he owned a Mack Tool truck), and it has been holding up well. - Kirk
I got my folding dolly from Lowes, holds up nicely so far on solid ground with my 108s. But it does have some cheapo parts that will probably be its downfall when I go over something the wrong way. I'd rather have a solid truck but driving around in a small car doesn't open that option.
