I heard the rumor which may explain the sudden clarity of the basin about a month or so ago.
I heard that rumor too.
I'm not sure but wasn't there a report of horrible mosquitoes a month ago also? I didn't get assaulted by hordes of mosquitoes at Peacock yesterday as I was expecting. Maybe they are related?
The basin was crystal clear this morning. You could see all the way to the bottom and not a single mosquito bite the whole time.
The cavern didn't look that great,I would sure wonder about a turnover. I have seen caves like Indian in the period of a few days, have a crystal clear basin, and the cavern be very poor due to a fall turnover.
P1 looked a lot nicer Sunday morning after a chilly Sat. night, not great yet but there was definate improvement overnight. I worked three days and had no mosquitos the whole time.
Safe diving,
Janet
The reason the P1 basin cleared, is because i peed in it at the end of my dive. All life in the basin was shocked and died instantly.
As thick as your wetsuit is its a wonder it ever finds its way out. What is it 9 or 11mm?.The mosquitos are rare now due to the cooler temps and not much rain.I know,Ive been bowhunting since late September.Evenings still bring out a few.
Its funny some would take offense to be called a Redneck.Git-R-Done!!!

Two things I noticed:
Definate flow in the Peanut tunnel on Sunday ...
GREAT Vis too ... !!! :D
Had an awesome time poking around up near the Peanut Restriction.
Came back down the PotsHole line and everything looked just MARVY :D
I thought the vis in the basin was very nice. And we even had some light coming down from PotHole too. Cast a nice little bit of coolish light on the floor. (this was late in the afternoon and since Sunday was a wonderful sunny day well ... )
Film at 11 (EEK)

P.S. Depth at the very top of the breakdown room is around 7 feet. For those of you that care. I keep checking it just for repititions sake. AND there was plenty of fishes around late Sunday afternoon , so , I would assume they weren't as shocked as everyone else was. (erp)
It's me North Dakota accent , fer sure (EEK)

Speaking of North Dakota, I now have divers from all 50 states, just recently I added North and South Dakota, I needed a diver who actually dove at PSSP while living in their state
at the time they visited the park.

PS It was the garlic in the blood stream that sent the mosquitos away.
sorry some info we must keep confidential.............
We dived P1 this morning. Conditions are excellent! Bottom of basin easily visiable from steps and viz. in cavern/cave is similar. No bugs!
