Just got my copy of the NACD journal, and noticed the Local Viewpoint feature was missing...
Has Rich stopped writing it? It's the first thing I look for when it arrives...

From what I understand there's a lot of articles that get turned in for publication in the NACD Journal and I guess they didn't have the space for my viewpoint in this issue!
However, I do have all the articles I've written for the Journal on my web site... http://caveandtechnicaltraining.com/Articles.htm and I'll put the new one up tomorrow morning. I promised the editor that I wouldn't put them up on my site before they were published but I suppose this one will be the exception! Hope this clears things up and you're having a great weekend..... :-D
Safe diving,
Rich
Thanks for the clarification, Rich.
Ah well, at least there's room in the journal for the ads...
I'll check your website for the current one, thanks.
Have a good weekend,
John
Thanks for all the PM's guys, as promised here's a link to the new "Local Viewpoint". http://caveandtechnicaltraining.com/Article10.htm
Hope y'all enjoy... :)
By the way, John grabbed a Journal from one of the local NACD Business Facilities, so please realize that the copies members receive will not land in your mailbox for a little while longer. Having said that, it's definitely worth the wait as there are some great articles in there! Hope everyone's having a great weekend :-D
Safe diving,
Rich
Thanks for pointing this out. I actually hadn't heard these articles were out there before.
Good job Rich!
Just got around to reading your article, Rich -- enjoyed it (as always). Some of my best dives haven't been big dives in the logistical sense of the word, but have been memorable for "discovering" new passages (for me), or seeing something I've missed on previous dives. Or finding dark walled, undisturbed silt in an unlined passage :D . "Learning the cave" has the added benefit of noticing some of the finer details, in addition to increasing the safety margin. Like diving for whale sharks and missing the small stuff. Of course, you also start to notice all the damage... wherein may lie the key to reducing it.
See ya friday,
John
Thanks for posting that link Rich. Another very good article.
Great Article Rich! I agree, there are so many caves out there that have so much to offer than just the main routes...and its a pleasure to explore them! Im gonna try and make it down to Ginnie for a weekend of diving soon, maybe you can show me some of the great sidemount tunnels in there :-D
Hmmm. I haven't received mine yet..
Sorry I couldn't fit in your LV, Rich but FWIW I didn't bump it to make room for ad space :). I'll make sure you get back in the next one. Pleasing to see you have a loyal readership. Gee, now we'll prolly have to actually PAY you for those beauties!

Good to see everybody has found Rich's web page.
I've been reading his articles for quite a while.
He has a good perspective on diving & I thoroughly enjoy his writing.
Just thought it was an added bonus to have it in NACD.
See you again Rich on my next trip (when Skip's ear finally heals) & keep the stories coming.

Rich,
Rough start to my week, long hard day. Short, quick word. I feel like many of the others here. I always look forward to your viewpoint. You being right there in the midst of things allows you to dive so much more than so many. You have a great ability to see what the cavediving public are up to and, what they are saying. I also look forward to your article each issue. I know there will be limited space some issues and some things will be cut. I can't imagine how good this upcoming issue will be if your article got shelved.
Thanks for posting the link for us to read. Great! As always! Thanks buddy for all the time and effort you put into this. I agree with so many of your thoughts and ideas / ideals. Please keep up the good work and, be not dishearted my friend. Your work is much appreciated by many.
Sorry I missed you last time down. I'll call ahead next time to make sure we catch a little time to catch up.
Bless Amigo,
Kenny P.
