I have it on "pretty good" authority Little River is opening for diving tomorrow (12/03/04). Please take this with a grain of salt and check for yourselves but it is a pretty solid tip.

Planning to check out the tightest, siltest, nastiest holes I can find. After a flood there will definitely be percolation and zero vis. Sidemount stuff only! 8) Leaving morning of the 19th. Oh well..........Quote:

Actually I don't recomend the left branch at all. The right branch is nasty. The left branch was frightening - almost as bad as when I half burried myself at the bottom of the sandslide.Quote:

I found a 'silt monster' in one of those passages. You know - when the floor moves from just the pressure wave created by your forward movement. I turned - oh so carefully - and beat a hasty retreat. The 'silt monster' at Ruth was bad enough and there is plenty of room to stay off the floor there. I don't know where your sandslide was but I've heard of one at Little River to watch out for. If it's the same one, yup, that would be frightening.Quote:

Someone has done quite a good job lining all the sidemount stuff on the right side of the main line between Table Rock and Merry-Go-Round. Not nearly as scary or nasty as the 20' passage though - just deeper. ;-)
Gary - sent you an e-mail with question. Please respond via same.
Angie :D
Ah yes, the Sand Slide. I've never been to the bottom. Every time I try, the little cascades of shells rolling down beside me seem to say " you can dig all you want, you'll run out of gas before we run out of sand". I always beat a retreat. The deeper sidemount stuff is very neat. - JohnQuote:

I'm pretty sure it would be less bad comming at it from the bottom side. Never had the urge to go back and test that theory though after I proved the circuit. ;-)Quote:

Umm......not interested in being buried alive. Too many years in the funeral business. The Sand Slide can wait for someone braver (?). I saw John head down that hill once to scout it out. I thought about how best to leverage and pull him out by his feet before his return. Didn't need to do it - whew - though I was about to go hunt for him. He took one minute too long. I saw the look on his face on the way out. That was enough for me.
I have spent quite some time trying to find the bottom side. Angie shared your info with me and now I understand why it remained hidden! It should stay that way. Not a place for most people, including me. - JohnQuote:

Mind sending the map my way? I'd like to check that area out. Thanks! Aviatrr@aol.comQuote:

It's REALLY good to know that it connects (a dire if I don't take this burrowing exit I will die situation) and I so very appreciate the fact that you did it! However, my curiousity has been satisfied. I would have to bang around quite a bit to test the stability of that sand vent before going as far you did. Especially after the floods. :)Quote:
