I have been using baby shampoo as defog for quite some time and it has worked flawlessly.
Recently, I purchased set of prescription bifocal lenses. I've noticed that near the 00:90 minute mark my mask is starting to fog. Dives are extending out to 2+ hours and I am spending much of the return trip clearing the fog from my mask.
I have already cleaned the lenses multiple times with toothpaste.
Looking for a suggestion for a new Defog solution that will hold up on longer dives.

Thanks!
Have you burned the inside of the mask? Use a lighter and run it inside of the mask. You will actually see a white film appear and then dissipate off. Then clean with toothpaste and use ur defog. The stuff burning off is a solution they use in the mask production. I had a mask that was a couple years old that I sent in to get readers installed. The reader part kept fogging (I had burnt the rest of the lens years earlier). Did the burn trick and cleaned with toothpaste and never an issue since.Quote:

I'll let you know if it works.
Was it an old mask lenses were added to or an all new mask? Youre not really heating it for long so it shouldnt cause damage. The adhesives they use are pretty heat resistant.Quote:

New bifocal lenses from prescription dive mask.
If anyone else has experience with these lenses let me know.
Thanks
Contact the people who did your lenses, they have a lot of experience with their product and great with customer service. In the mean time, 89 minutes dives.
Most of the newer masks say do not use toothpaste. It ruins the mask.

And what do they say to use to remove the releasing agents?Quote:

I did contact them once to ask about toothpaste and they said that it is fine to use toothpaste on their lensesQuote:

This process keeps my mask clear for up to 10 hours. I use it on my backup mask as well and have pulled it out of my pocket after 6 hours in the water and the mask is still clear. The pink stuff takes a little time to let it dry and then rub it off before every dive, but it works great and does not wash off if you get some water in your mask.
i used SEA GOLD (gel) for a long time i have used prescription lenses for 23 years, used both types glued in lenses and lenses ground to fit mask. the sea gold worked fine on dives 3+hrs then i started using REEF SAFE (spray) Dive Out Post had it when Cathy was there not sure with Adam and Kate that stuff has always worked well on any dive i do no matter the duration (my spit always worked good when i was younger i guess age changed that) if Dive Out Post no longer has REEF SAFE i too will be looking for a substitute i hope this helps.
I put in defog the night before, let it dry overnite. Then polish with a soft rag. Do not swish water inside the mask, try to keep it dry. Never had a fog problem, even in the great white north under the ice.
Are you sure that is the mask and not a to tight neck seal? If your neck seal is to tight, the reduced blood flow will cause cloudy vision.
Interestingly enough, I haven't had a mask fog on me in years until yesterday. I'll blame Dom and this thread.
clean it with comet if the toothpaste you're using isn't getting it done
I thought toothpaste didn't work anymore anyway, because it's no longer abrasive.
whitening ones normally do the trickQuote:

Thank you all for the advice. I tried my buddy's defog today and it worked great.
