I am trying to find where I can buy some Eldelrid line that Apeks uses on their life line spools. If anyone knows that would be awesome.

As a climber, I know that "Edelrid" manufacture climbing ropes.
I assume that's here: http://www.edelrid.de/en/
Try contacting them.
any dyneema or spectra line will work, doesn't have to be from that manufacturer. Why use the UHMWPE's instead of normal nylon?
Do you find the Apex reel to be any better than a delrin one? They sure look cool, but man they are spendy for a reel...
Good to know about the line. I really like the flared profile of these reels. If there were delrin ones with that shape, I believe I'd be all over them. Another question about these... Any concern about the swivel on these as a possible failure point? I do like the idea of something on the end of the line getting rid of any twist induced by winding
Order them in bulk. http://www.landbigfish.com/Spro/Spro-Heavy-Swivels.cfm
They look like really nice spools. The quality seems to be top notch and they do have a pretty sweet "bling" factor to them. We all know that one of the most important things about cave diving is looking cool.
The spools that Apeks gave us to give away at the workshop went very quickly. I'd be curious to see what the winners think of them after using them.
I use them for technical diving as backup with bag and/or lost in the wreck siltout safety spools.
Reason I like them is two fold...
durable and I can't break or bend them when a set of doubles impacts them on a boat or sat upon
secondly, the way they are cut and beveled it is VERY hard to get a dog clip to come open on accident in either direction of clip opening and I would rather spend a few more dollars on a reel than spend a lot more over time on lost reels and bags.
Cortland Line - link here
They come on ~500yard spools.

It's Dacron, 0.095", 325# break strength. It's also bright yellow.
I used to have dacron line, why didn't I like it...I forget. I know I didn't like that it was flat, I think it might've been neutrally buoyant too, so it just hung there, waiting for me to get tangled up.
Sorry to dig up this thread but wasn't sure if there was a clear answer on the type of line that Apek use on their spools. Is it the same line as the high-vis dacron that is sold by DGX for example?
