I talked with Margaret at Madison today, and we will defintiely be at Madison for the clean-up on April 18. It will be a half day of work followed by a BBQ(need a volunteer to cook burgers and dogs) and some door prizes. Conditions permitting, you will have time to enjoy the spring afterwards.
Although the list of projects is not yet finalized, it will include:
1. Removal of old posts,
2. Demolition of a small shed,
3. Installation of new grills (which we can test afterwards),
4. Relocating some picnic tables from the pavillions and replacing them with handicapped accessible picnic tables,
5. Some minor electrical work in the bath house, and
6. Removal of some trees that have been cut down.
Also, if we have enough volunteers and we can get the supplies, we may perform some maintenance of the stairs with some crushed limestone (Russell, you're welcome!)
If you can help, send me a pm, answer here, or contact me at sandynfsa@gmail.com or pr@nationalassociationforcavediving.org
Planning to be there.
John
Sounds good Sandy.
Thanks John, we have much appreciated your participation over the last 5 years.
We have 13 confirmed and 3 maybes so far. I appreciate the great response after day one! In the past, we have had up to 30 and more. Hope to do the same this year so we have enough person power for the steps (for Russell Edge)
I don't get it.
Russell, I thought one time you had asked about something other than dirt on the steps leading from the parking lot to the Madison Springs deck.
Okay, I get it. You're talking about the steps on the path down to the deck, not the steps into the water.
Is eco day
April 18 or is it
The march22 on the
NFSA website?
April 18 is correct as Forrest mentioned. I will be posting some more info this week. Thanks all!
ECO-Day is still scheduled for this Saturday. If you have expressed an interest, I will email or message you in a day or two. Thanks to all who have volunteered to help.
ECO-Day reminder for Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Madison Springs State Park.
Just a reminder and a thank you for all who have signed up for ECO-Day 2015. Looks like there is a slight possibility of rain in the AM but lets plan to show up anyway. We have 26 volunteers to take on 5 projects. Show up around 8:30 and we will get you started on something. If you are early or late no big deal. I am hopeful that we will finish around 11:30 and have an early lunch.
Bring gloves. If you by chance have room and a spare post hole digger or shovel, bring it too. Do not go through any trouble as we should have plenty.
When you arrive, look for me or Kelly Jessop as we will have a sign in form which provides you workmans comp in the unlikely event of an accident.
Lastly, I will be buying groceries tomorrow. If you have any special soda, gatorade/powerade, or chips requests, let me know. We will have water for you.
We look forward to seeing everyone there, and the NFSA appreciates your participation
Bring an appetite as I may have over bought groceries.
As MAG said we had some extra protein during lunch. Thanks to 31 volunteers who attended today as they helped to make a difference. Also thanks to the donors of NSSCDS, Nestles, NACD, and NFSA and their donations. Thanks also to EE, DO, CE, Amigos, and CCDS for their donations. We are also appreciative of the Luraville CS, Tumbleweeds, Memes, Sonnys C BBQ, and the High Springs Diner for their gifts too
It was great fun, in spite of someone breaking a waterline with a post hole digger :-D Several people helped fix it, including the head ranger, who was lying in the mud in her uniform, digging out around the pipe so we could fix it. Thanks to Twaldo, for going into town to get fittings, and then donating them to the Park!
I owe an apology to Scuba Tiger in Jacksonville who also provided door prizes. Thanks guys!
Oops, Scuba Tiger is located in Orange Park.
