I was there on 12/30 but I forgot my snorkel that day.

I'm not saying this is the reason it was there but...I have seen divers use the two opening rubber type as second stage retainers for stage/deco bottles.
Not in cave, but in tech diving. One ring end goes over the DIN to tank connection while the mouthpiece is pulled through the other "ring".
It's actually quite reliable.

Hmmm....have seen locals use air pockets caused by divers to penetrate caves,by going from pocket to pocket using a snorkel. The "smarter" ones will use chemical sticks to illuminate the air pocket they used previously. First time I saw this I saw legs dangling down 400ft from the entrance and scared the crap out of me.

The snorkel keeper went in there the last time this spring syphoned. Cave divers do not go to this location. It is not an activity implied or identified in the park. To express otherwise is not recommended or encouraged. Thank you for participating in the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy.
