Probably thought this was about cave diving organizations, eh?
Not so! www.sidemount.com has been taken over.
I blame the backmounters!

Why the hell would they hack that page? I guess it was because it was easy to do. Somewhere else I was trying to look at today got hacked but I can't remember what it was.
It's pretty bad that it is still up, their hosting people should have fixed it by now. Why would someone hack anything cave diving related? I hate it for Linda, she's a nice lady.
ROFL ... their screen page has ps output with getty running for modems at 38400. Too funny..
That is awesome
Does anybody have a set of AOL floppy disks to help them get back online?
As to why - I doubt it was targeted. More than likely someone is running a scan for a particular set of vulnerabilities and grabbing any site they find that are easy pickings...
Edit: To avoid any misunderstandings my earlier ROFL comment was about the image the hackers put up, not about the folks whose site got hacked.
This is disturbing. These guys can hack anything. It's only going to get worse though unfortunately.
When I ran the call center for Hostcentric we had a white hat on staff that sole job was to hack our customers windows based websites, the Redhat ones didn't seem to need that service :-)
so true.
FBI hacked, some big gov/banks/police etc..

Actually, Tracy, it's not "that easy" to hack, as it is to take advantage of sites that basically fail to lock their doors!
Part of our job is to 'inspect' IT before it goes on line and every three years. It's amazing how many just simply are not patched or their anti-virus not updated.
Now . . . what is the status of YOUR computer, Ms/Mr reader? :wink
when they can bring down the people that does the security for some of the US government, and then that CEO resigns. hmmmm

Tommy, don't you believe it. The Goobermint shoots itself in the foot.
Jax is right on the money.
I can't really tell by the site's current state but it looks to me like they were using an old (vulnerable) version of a content management system like wordpress or PHP nuke. The vulnerability that was exploited here is a pretty old one. I haven't seen that technique used in awhile.
What was on the site before it got hacked?
i'm not sure pointing to a bunch of /b/tards with too much time on their hands as heroes is all that accurate
their raids aren't always so noble
not real sure what they were using, but looking at wayback machine shows
http://web.archive.org/web/201102251...xcursions.com/
prolly asp
It was wordpress.
Folks, don't ignore the update button.
what is sidemount.com?
It was Cave Excursions web site.
I think that is Cave Excursions site.
Only the first page was hacked. The rest of the site is up if you had those bookmarked.
There is an entire movie about the anon hacktivists
Rules 1&2 have already been violated, remember the pool is always closed.
