WSPSSP - Orange Grove 8/12/12

Just dove Orange Grove, and going back after fills for a second dive. The open water area is nasty. Maybe about 2 feet and very tanic water. We had to follow the wall down until we came across the familiar log at the entrance of the cavern. Once in the cavern, vis improved quite a bit. Think of it as turning a light switch on in a dark room... Vis was great in the cave all the way to Challenge Sink. Challenge was even clear. There was some tanic water in the overhead domes along the way which was neat. I've never seen it before, so I think it's cool. Will have some pictures later tonight.

Thats a nice little swim for sure. From Challenge to Olsen is even better IMO.

Is there still a line/reel from the tree to the main line?

Thanks for the report Steve, that doesn't look too shabby--

We were in there today, just as he said. Nice dive, the tanic pools in the ceiling were kind of spooky to me. Never have seen that before.

Anybody been to Orange Grove within the last week or so? Im trying to get a condition report as I am considering this site for this weekend.

I dove it last Sat. Water's over most of the lower steps, vis in the basin was 5-10', vis in the cave was 30-40'. Made for a nice dive. There's an electrical cord running from the steps to the cave entrance you can follow in case the vis in the basin is crap. I think it's for an instrument, so you probably shouldn't disturb it.

Any new updates? Plan on diving it this Sunday and just wondering how hard its going to be finding the cave entrance??

If the sampling tube is still there, you won't have any problem.

Viz is 3-4' in the basin, but clears up near the trees.

oh yea, just follow the line down to the entrance WITHOUT touching it. FW is the man!!
