Looking for the latest vis report at the eye and the ear.
Thanks
50 feet +/-
Main line to about 1200', Hill 400 to 1400-ish, short-cut tunnel, and roller coaster all as Jim said, about 50' maybe more in some places....Bone line after 600' or 700' drops dramatically. That's all I got, sorry.
After reading the viz report I called Ginnie to see if it was full cave only still and it is. Is there a reason I don't know that the rule is still in effect? I thought it was dependent on viz
I don't know the criteria but eatlier asked Rick if it was open to cavern/intro and he said he was told they *almost* opened it today but will be next week aslong as conditions continue to improve. The ear still has a very dark "cloud" over it and viz iz near zero until the log. This may be the reason but I am only guessing.
Thank all
went up hill 400 today, had to be around 60' or so. Blown away to see a manatee in the spring run...didn't think they came up to ginnie...maybe it was one of the alcoholic manatees
There were manatees in the river by Ginnie following flooding caused by Tropical Storm Fay in 2008 as well.
There were two at Devils in 2010. The mowed down all the hydrilla.
Wingman took lots of photos.

There were reports over the weekend of unusually cold (50F) water in the Atlantic. That could drive them to seek warmer water, even though the surface temperatures are hot.
Where were the 50 degree temps at? SST has to be close 90 in most areas
Attachment 6938 just found this SST chart from past week. What causes those cold temps near the coast?
Coastal upwelling of deeper, cooler offshore waters as return flow replacing surface waters 1) blown offshore by the winds or 2) advected offshore by the (slight) eastward translation of the Gulf Stream. Upwelling also occurs during the presence of cold-core cyclonic (counter-clockwise flowing) eddies (vortex) as they move northward along the inshore boundary of the Florida Current/Gulf Stream.
