Invasion From the North

Maybe not a full-blown invasion, but did want to mention that a dozen of us from VA, DC and MD will be in cave country next week (3/26 thru 4/3), so we're trying our best to support the FL economy (and, of course, the gas stops along I-95). We're all part of the Virginia Beach Technical Divers group and decided to head south for some "in-shore" diving.

Three from MD & DC will be finishing their full-cave training, one from VA will be their instructor - all staying in High Springs. Two more from VA and one from DC will be on RBs - staying at MA's Chateau. The rest will be from VA and will be diving SM - also staying in HS.

Should be a great week of diving Ginnie, Peacock and Madison. Now, you locals be nice to us (or at least try)! Hope to run into some of you and say Hi to some old friends.

The people from Maryland and Virginia are always welcome, but the people from D.C.? Please, leave them at home. I hear that all the people in D.C. just bicker with everyone, call each other names, can't do simple addition and subtraction, argue about prices, they do tend to drastically overpay for everything only to take up a collection when its time to pay the bill, they can't seem to differentiate between fact and fiction, they always try to impose their will on everyone else, and tend to leave little bits of tweed suit wherever they go. Please encourage them to take their training in Tripoli.

Eric, wouldn't that be great to have Jim with us. We've been able to get him on a sailboat but not back in a drysuit.

The good news is that they live a little "outside" of DC, so shouldn't be a problem (LOL),

Actually the ones OFG-1 is talking about don't live in DC at all. They just board there a few months out of the year. They are actually residents of Florida, California, New York, Idaho, etc. :rollguy

This "invasion" force all seems to be coming from South of the Mason-Dixon and thus considered friendlies. (Even Maryland which is pushing it a bit....)
Some of us still recall, or have heard our whole lives, about another invasion -- that of Sherman, and we damn sure don't want that again.

As a DC native (taxation without representation) thanks for pointing this out. It's the non native species and transplants that give DC a bad name. :)

I will be in with that small mob over at Turkey Roost from Scubaboard April Fools weekend. Stop by and say HI !!!
There about 6-8 of us in the mob that cave dive so you might be seeing some of us in the water if you are at Ginnie that time.

Watch coming through Georgia. A friend of mine got dinged by the new super speeder law. It was a $200+ fine,and then 2 weeks later got a letter from the state fining him another $200.

How fast do you have to be going for this? Or how far over the posted limit?

The new law titled HB160 tacks-on another two-hundred-dollar state-fee for any driver convicted of speeding at 75-or-more on any two-lane roads.. OR convicted of speeding at 85-and-over anywhere in Georgia. Those new state fees will be in addition to any local fines already in effect in the jurisdiction where the speeding offense occurs

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm not a habitual speeder, but a Chevy pickup loaded with cave diving gear and on the last leg of a passage to Luraville tends to start developing its own momentum... :)

Whew, I lucked out yesterday my 80mph slid under the radar!
I am very glad to know that and I will be sure to set the cruise.
The traffic in Atlanta at 4pm Sat was enough to deter any speed of any kind!
I hope you all have the weather of last week, it was absolutely amazing!
