Very sad news. Will be missed by all.

Thoughts and prayers with the family and friends of the diver, always tough to say when you don't know yet if you know the diver or not. Also with the search divers.
Some of us knew her. I can't post the name yet, but if you think you know her, call me 404-292-5613
According to Australian law, a person in considered "missing" until the body has been recovered. They know where she is, but can't get to her (as if that isn't enough of a clue!)
I'm absolutely floored. :(
Terrible news... Any idea what happened?
Very sad!
does anyone know anything about what happened?
TDS had the name, but they don't allow posting that until the names has officially been released either.
My number is on the first page of this thread, if anyone wants to know what little more I know.
This is an incredibly sad day. Can't believe she's gone. Rest in peace.
Well, family comes first and names shouldn't get posted until after the family hears. So other than a general wishing to know, I respect the info not getting posted. I'm sure I was just confused. I thought a name was posted, and it wasn't someone I knew. But probably it just wasn't posted and I didn't put 2 and 2 together.

:-( Very sad news!!!
I am going offline awhile. I have to think about something different, I am going flying.
So sad...Talked to her Friday and her dive plans for this weekend. WOW...
Very sad, another lost to the community as well as her love ones and friends. Interesting that Forrest had just posted in the "tightest sidemount" thread that Tank cave was at the top of the list.
Tony, it was sorta tongue in cheek ... As she did not make it out, we can assume it was pretty tight in there :(
Very sad. :(
Another sad day for the cave community. Thoughts are with her family and friends.
A sad day indeed. Peace be upon her and all her loved ones.
I am back, but I assume they are still working on the recovery. It is still night over there, and hard to get news right now.
a sad day indeed. prayers to her and her family
looks like theyfound her body

They still aren't publishing the name, so we shouldn't either.
Very sad news....... My prayers go out to her family and friends.
The community will miss her exuberance and her smile. Condolences to her family and friends.
This is truly a tragedy. The cave diving community will miss her positive, uplifting, soaring spirit. May she rest in peace.
She will be missed very much! I tried to call you Forrest several times but your phone in busy busy busy....I didn't want to post anything on her FB acct til I talked to you as she has many new posts from friends that obviously don't know yet! So give me a call when you can I'm gonna go cry now!
my praysgo outto her familiy
Sad new. This is a terrible loss for the family and the cave community. Thoughts and prayers go to them.
Terrible news. She was always so nice to anyone and everyone. My prayers are with her loved ones.
Sad news. I enjoyed reading about her and would have liked to have met her. This is a great loss for the community and her family.
shocking and saddening news
So sad, someone so young and so many places to go yet. :( My prayers for her and her family.
It never gets any easier does it, it hurts us all to loose those who are at the top of their sport!
Even if they have been around a long time it still hurts.
Prayers and thoughts to her family and friends of which there are so many!
The level of respect and care shown by CDS, SB. TDS, encouraging to me.

So sad to hear. We've run into her several times, and I'm pretty sure I've never seen her without a smile on her face if there was a cave near by. Such a loss to the community- sending lots of good thoughts to her family.
I am totally stunned and saddened. My sincere condolences and prayers to her friends and family. This is a great loss to our community.
Polly.....Just browse her Facebook photos. I was doing OK until I saw so many smiles on one page. Bloody sad, so much ahead of her.
Was watching her youtube video about herself. Shot by Wes. Sad and sad.....
I have a jillion Facebook friends, but sadly, she was not one of them, so I can't see anything posted to her wall...
Had a good day until now. My most sincere condolences to her family and friends.
Been following his all day and I still cannot believe it.
Such a loss
she was what we all wish we could be. i will miss her more than I can express. i am so sad. but you know she would not have it any other way. she had more desire, more skill, more of what we all we wish we had, that her passing is a testament to us all. she is what we strive for.

From The Sydney Morning Herald
Nothing has been posted yet.
I found the following while browsing her website. I think it might give some of the friends comfort, knowing her actions were thought out.
I went to her facebook looking to get information on her death this morning, and ended up browsing through her photos thinking "wow, she had an amazing life". Not sure I can honestly say her life was cut short, but rather she lived in fast forward, so many friends, experiences, and events packed into those 29 years.Quote:
Are you willing to die doing this?
No one wants to die but there are risks involved in cave diving. It would be criminal to say that cave diving is perfectly safe. In any inherently dangerous pursuit, if you are on the cutting edge, if you are pushing the boundaries and pushing yourself - you inevitably increase the risks. To me the risks are worth it. Diving and the need to explore is not just a hobby for me. It is not just something I love doing. It is a way of life. It is who I am. As my mum loves to say 'Where the devil can't go, he sends you.' I'm starting to think there might be some truth to that.
The pure joy and blissful happiness I get from exploration is worth taking calculated risks. It is not about doing stupid stuff in order to keep on pushing but if folks didn't dare to get out of the comfort zone nothing would ever get done. We all set our own limitations and we all do our own risk assessment. I don't think it is fair to have other people's risk assessment placed onto my shoulders. Having said that, I do appreciate that at the end of the day it is only long Gevity that counts.
I am so sorry to hear the bad news. I met her at the 2010 NSS-CDS workshop
Here is an article I found that provides some more details.

Sludge, search on flickr.com TONS of pictures...And like everyone said, she was always smiling!
Now that her name has been released - http://www.flickr.com/photos/agnesmilowka
My sincere condolences to her family.
Walter she had such a zest for life but at the same time had a big heart. She told me once after Wes's memorial and her eyes were welling up that she would have given up cave diving if it would have kept him alive. If you knew AG that was sure sign she had a really big heart. ( She loved Cave Diving ) Now I feel quite a few people would have done the same for her.
This is very sad. My prayers go out to all her loved ones.
Too soon... Way too sad. I didn't know her but we just had shared contact on FB and exchanged some comments. Very accessible person.
Thoughts going to her family and loved ones.
:(
I never met her, but have been admiring her exploits and enjoying her articles, posts, and web site for a long time. She was one of the people I looked forward to meeting in cave country someday. Such a tragic loss to the cave diving community and the world. Condolences to her family and friends.
Mike
RIP Agnes. Wishing comfort and support to your family and dive friends. Godspeed on your journey for the quest of the unexplored. I know you and Wes must be putting together one heck of a dive plan by now. Although I never knew you personally, I never seen the first picture of you without a million dollar smile. Rest easy Agnes, wishing you clear diving beyond our reaches here on earth.

Never got to meet her but from what I saw and heard about her, she must have been a hell of a person. RIP and condolences to the family!
My condolences to friends and family. RIP Agnes.
RIP Agnes
RIP Ag. I promised to share how survey will go but I didn't. I just swam by your line. I'm so sorry.
She was connected to the community in so many ways....i am in mourning remembering the many nights that she would emerge from a long dive at ginnie and tell me about what she was seeing in the new section. I can't cope with this and the tears are starting to flow....
I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but I admired her and her work immensely. This is a terribly sad day.
I remember reading article from or about her. I would have love to meet her personnaly.
Rest in peace...
I was thinking, was Agnes inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame? If not, we should posthumously nominate her. I think it would be a nice tribute and she deserves it.
Good bye my friend I shall miss you dearly! I am saddened that we will not get to do the our dives later this year as we talked about doing. Enjoy the caves in the sky with the other great cave divers that were there to greet you on the other side. My heart goes out to your family and friends. You were taken way too soon But, At least you were doing what you loved the most!
Lord I join my heart and prayers with so many other people right now. We ask that You would give peace and comfort that passes our own understanding to Agnes' family, friends and loved ones. Give everyone working with her recovery on every level, wisdom, strength and safe passage to perform at their absolute best. Thank You for the wonderful times and joy that Agnes so unselfishly gave to everyone, everywere she showed up. Let her legacy live on and inspire others in the times to come. Lord watch over the cave diving community on all of our dives and help us all to be as sensitive as possible everytime we enter the water. Thank You for Your faithfulness, in Jesus name. Amen.

Ag, we'll remember your spirit, your passion, and your wonderful smile. I'll never forget your lively stories and your love for adventure. Our cave diving family is smaller and sadder tonight. My heart goes out to your family and to us all.
Blessed be,
Barbara/San Francisco

RIP Ag. My condolences to the family.
Was diving yesterday and just saw this this morning. I am saddened about this terrible news. While I never met AG, I have enjoyed her videos. Wes has his sidemount partner back for good now.
she was one of my heroes. i'm really sorry to know she's gone. i was so looking forward to reading her account of the baptizing/peacock connection. :(
Until now I have said nothing because I simply cant find the words..... and still cant. Be at peace Agnes.....
I'm not sure if I ever met Agnes but I had a chance to look at her website and read an article regarding the Peacock/Baptizing connection which I found fascinating. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and her many friends on CDF.
I have to tell my favorite Agnes story here:
At the 2010 CDS Workshop she gave a presentation on some of the Australian caves. One of these was Pickaninny Cave. When she mentioned it by name, my heart kind of skipped a beat.
After her presentation, I went up to her and asked, "In Australia, what does 'pickaninny' mean?"
"It's an Aboriginal child," she told me.
I started laughing and told her, "You might want to be aware that over here, it's a perjorative for 'black child.'"
Her face suddenly went ashen and she said, "Well, that's a good thing to know..."
That was the ONLY time I ever saw her without a great, big smile on her face. Rest in peace, my friend.
Very saddened and upset to hear this news. I read about it late last night and I wasn't able to sleep afterwards. I wonder sometimes about why I do this sport and why I'm so committed to it. I walked into my scuba room where I keep my my mountain of gear and I had to walk out. It felt very uncomfortable, like a death trap. Which made me even more upset. I ended up sleeping in my children's room so they knew daddy was still there.
Dive Safe everyone. We've had a lot of heartache lately.
-Francisco Amanti
really sad, I felt bad when a friend told me about her yesterday, hope she can find very cool caves in the other world.
I hope we can find out what happened to her and learn something from it.
I never met her, but I had hoped to. There are very few young women in this sport anyways, but none on her level. I've followed her career for the past few years and learned quite a bit from her videos and articles; she was a true explorer. My prayers are with her family and loved ones.
Man! She was one of my favorite flikr contacts. I've enjoyed watching her photography evolve, and will miss the inspiration she provided. The world has indeed lost something special.
Very sad 29. Thoughts are with her family and friends.
I remember having dinner with her and James Toland a few years a go. We talked about the new section of Ginnie. It was fun comparing our very different strategies. I got there through finding different ways to think about cave diving techniques. She didn't need to. With her unbelievable skills, she coud get to places few can through sheer physical ability. She seemed to use no gas, swim at most peoples' walking pace, and wriggle through places that cats would think twice about. A measure of her incredible skill is the number of explorers who asked her to join them on their projects.
Everyone who dove with Agnes spoke highly of her. And her love of caving came out in the articles she wrote. I'll miss reading those adjective-filled stories that, briefly, allowed me to live her life vicariously.
Agnes, you lived more in 29 years than most of us will live in our lives. I envy you that. But I wish that, rather than lead one full life in 29 years, you'd gotten to lead 3 full lives in 90.
I was really very sorry to hear about Ag passing on Sunday morning. I was shocked as well. She always seemed to be so happy. My thoughts and prayers go out to all her friends and family.
I met Ag at a Dive Rite Demo Day at 40 Fathoms in 2007 or 2008. She had such a huge smile on her face, it was obvious that she absolutely loved life. Since then, I have enjoyed reading about her achievements.
Rest in peace Agnes. :-(
Damn.
RIP, Agnes.
We've lost way too many good people lately.
Damn.
God Bless this Cave Diver, and God please look over those who are helping bring her home.
RIP Agnes
I hope you are with Wes in a better place...
Wow. The loss of Agnes bothers me more then I would have expected for some reason. Yes, I am accustomed to losing friends and aquaintences in this sport. I only met Agnes a few times but like everyone else who met her she made a lasting impression. I guess it was her youth, her exuberance, and personality that affects me. It was like a young bright shining star in the community has been extinguished.
