From the article:
"Still, the Audubon of Florida will not take any chances until the ink dries on the final budget approved by the Legislature and signed by Scott."
They aren't taking any chances, and neither should we.
if they are visiting all 53 parks in 53 days, is there any way to get the schedule on when they will be at what park?
If so we could rally at the park.
I agree, showing our support at the Parks will be likely to get some attention!

Here is the email for the president of the Alachua Audbon Society. I am too far away to get to the parks in time, but someone closer can contact her for a schedule of park visitations. I am sure she would love some help. HelenWarren@cox.net
I feel quite precious right now. I got a response from Sen. Charles thanking me for my letter... If you got the same letter please do not tell me, I don't need to know and loose my preciousness feeling.
I think everyone did great job and I hope it will have good results.
xenia, you're precious no matter what! i didn't get any letters yet...
I am happy that our Governor ( Rick " I still have not been indicted" Scott) is now saying that he is not closing our parks, but I do not think that he can be trusted. I like Billy's idea of showing our support for the parks anyway we can. Please keep writing letters to our state officials.
Yay! Thank you guys you make me feel so special!
Anyway I am willing to cheerlead in person if I am in Florida when they visit the parks, but I will be there next weekend only and then again in a couple of months... I will get Bobby to represent me. He is not as cute as I am but oh well...
YAHOO! Best news I have heard in a while!
Thanks to all of you who wrote letters and I guess it is time to mail round two!
I have grown convinced that once a idea or proposal had been on the table it remains there at least in many Reps minds.
It might be revised next time but it will be back! The thing is not being caught off guard!
Thank you to NFSA and all who participated in the campaign.
It is not over!

Let all of us support the cave diving parks.
I think this quote from the Saint Augustine website says it all:As stated earlierQuote:
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park and Fort Mose Historic State Park were two of of the parks on a list presented by the Department of Environmental Protection to the state Legislature. The closures would have cut the budget by 15 percent, according to a DEP report. The 53 parks with the lowest attendance and that do not offer camping were added to the proposal.
I think we should work with the state park management to implement Pete's idea immediately. They make these decisions by the numbers... We need to give them some numbers!
Kelly & NFSA Mgt. - This should be a high priority, along with mustering attendance when the state officials come to inspect each park... If I'm down there when there are visits, I'll surely attend...
Well, at parks where there's only an iron ranger (eg. WSPSSP), unless the roaming ranger is counting people, I don't see how they could even take accurate attendance stats... The only thing that would give any clue would be the number of cash entrance fees collected. But that would leave out pass holders as well as families using a "family" pass. I would favor a slight alteration to the "iron ranger" envelope. A check box for "Pass holders" and a space for "No. of passengers in Vehicle." Each pass holder (including those riding together in one car) fills out an envelope and indicates how many are entering on that pass (assuming a family pass). It's the only way I think we'll get accurate results. I realize it's a bit of bureaucracy, but if it will keep our parks open, now and in the future...
Now Madison Blue has a ranger station at the entrance, and everyone (even pass holders) has to sign in... So I'm really wondering how they couldn't know the stats there, unless they simply weren't collecting them, or that station is often closed and operates as an "iron ranger" at times.
