Hey, a couple of weeks ago I was at Cave Excursions and met a guy who was building batteries for lights. He gave me a great price for my 21w but I lost his contact info. Quite honestly, I'm not sure, if in the excitement for the dive, I even got the contact info. Anyway, looking at getting another battery if anyone has a hookup.
Thanks
batteries plus can make them for quite a bit less than halcyon
Yah, there's no way I'd go to Halcyon for the battery.
I rebuild a few battery packs a year.
Post the model specs and I'll PM you a quote.
I tried to get Batteries Plus to make a LI-ION pack for me and they refused saying they would explode. I ended up making my own. The key is to rough up the terminal with a dremel tool and make the solder joint quickly. In other words, don't heat up the battery.Quote:

I had a loose wire on the ballast, the replaced the ballast. All of this was at no charge.
I want additional batteries. The battery I have is fine. I will not be buying from Halcyon. The only reason I have a Halcyon light is because someone owed me some money. It's a great light but Halcyon is too expensive.
That is where I get my batteries.Quote:

A lot of light manufacturers get source their batteries and chargers there too.
Batteries Plus can make a nice looking pack but their battery grades are garbage by comparison and cost way too much.
the exact same cells as halcyon cost HALF as much from batteries plus. same exact batteriesQuote:

Canister size would be my biggest concern. I would go with the most capacity that will fit the canister. It you change battery technology,Quote:

I'll stick with NiMH. I got no issues with it. I just want a second battery. My light is supposed to be good for 4 hours. I don't want to cut it that close in the event that I make several dives in a day. It's either that, or bring my charger with me while I eat lunch. So, I guess I'm looking for 9ah NiMH 3 x 6 setup.
There are 20 4500mAh cells in the pack. Batteryspace.com sells a drop in replacement for the old style packs that used Anderson connectors.Quote:

My light doesn't have the anderson connector, it's got the lid with the three male terminals that plug into the battery with 3 female terminals when you attach it. I might attempt building my own. I have black pvc that I can mold to make the caps and I'm pretty good at soldering or I can have my mother-in-law do it at work. She builds circuit boards for rockets.
what's the best 4500mah battery?

it's only like 15 dollars difference if i build it myself or have batteryspace build it. seems like a no brainer. Just figured 200+ was bit pricey when I could get batteries for my DR light for 100'ish, But the DR is a slimline.
wondering about this, I'm just adapting an old helios 4.5 to LED, but batteries last only 2.5hs since are old, anybody had an issue with Li batteries in salt water or something??? I could make that little thing go up to like 14hs burntime if I want with Li batts and if the specs in the pack sizes are correct in the battery space site.Quote:

If you are not 100% sure in your canister leakproof - stay away from lithium, especially in salt water. NiMH is forgiving in terms of underwater fire, lithium will take you liver out that is why best uw light manufacturers seal lithium packs redundantly.Quote:
