I am planning to spend the month of January in Puerto Aventuras. I am hoping that a month is long enough to slow down the pace, renew friendships, check out Ela & Adam's new Dive Shop in Tulum (which is now under construction), walk a few beaches... of course, all of that between cave dives! :yawinkle:
So you're planning to admire the Michigan winter from a distance - that might be the best way! :)
Mike
trade you the Michigan winters for the florida summers
That's what I've been dong for 6 winters now!! Won't bother me if I never see another snowflake!! :partyman:Quote:

I visited in 2007 when I was a mere OW and now it will be for real cave diving. I am ready to roll..

FWIW, the annual (and generally the daily) temperature swing is a lot less in Florida than Michigan. Why do you think so many northeners move to FL?

Roan's theory states that all of us are born with one leg a bit shorter than the other. The crazier that you are, the greater this difference. Everyone must migrate south until they find a place where the curvature of the earth is correct for them to actually stand up straight. Now, the equator is actually perfect for the craziest people, they can face either direction and stand up straight. Therefore, the crazier you are, the further south you go. This explains a lot of the nutjobs you meet in the tropics. Naturally, environmental conditions tend to offset the Roan effect. As example, when you and 88 of your closest friends are starving to death, then rowing a 17 foot boat 300 miles north makes sense, which means that you are not crazy enough to starve to death and therefore moving a bit North validates the theory.
I think it is more like 90 miles :-)Quote:
