What is your preference
Is there a specific case (sidemount, stage, O2, bailout, etc)? I use both, but for different reasons.
My buddy (Sam) did have a swivel blow an o-ring just before a dive. So I can understand why some won't use them.

So, I am going to assume this is for sidemount. I actually use a right angle on my left post and it comes around the back of my neck. I then use a swivel on my right post and it comes directly up from the first stage. Never had a problem with either, and I think my swivel is an offbrand.
For the most part, I prefer the right angles just because of the reduced failure, and it is sufficient for most of the "angling" that I need. I have right angles on my stage reg and my O2 reg. It just makes them easier to use without fully deploying the hose if necessary.
For my rebreather, I have an onmiswivel on my BOV to give me a greater range of motion moving my head.

I just use "non-handed" regulators, that can feed from the left, or right. Poseidon Xstremes are some of the toughest, easiest breathing, regulators there are.
I voted fixed 90 but I use both, one around my neck (sidemount) uses a fixed 90, the long hose uses a swivel, hard to donate a long hose with a 90 on it, otherwise they would both be 90's.

I use 90 degree angles on everything, both side mounts, stage cylinders, deco cylinders. Not necessary on back mounts.

What if you want to check two boxes?
I use swivels sometimes and XTX's sometimes.
Same here, I wish I could check 2 boxes and then I would get in on the poll.

XTX from the left for sidemount - with a swivel, G250 from the right, with a fixed 45. Swivel on the BOV on the deathbox. Chrissy, same as above. Hundreds of dives on the swivels, only one fantastic failure, resulting in the 2nd stage become handheld. Dont particularly like either one, but would rather have the movement of the swivel over the safety of the fixed.
PS- hate the extreme 2nd. Anyone want to buy one? (Forrest, I'll bring it this month, you can trade me for a sidemount breather mouthpiece.) Ha.

haha- XTX= Apex XTX50 you can set it up to receive a hose from either side, making it fantastic for a left side bottle regulator. Of course, that may not matter to you! :)

Wow- surprise, surprise. I have found the XTX to be the final answer to my left bottle woes- the poseidon and their ilk were just a series of wet breathing (in the case of the xtreme) or expensive, fiddly, pieces of junk.(I do like the first stages) I see your point, but can't imagine that it applies when your regs are stowed on a neck loop correctly- there is no way to hand it over upside down- your hand on that side goes to unclip the second and it naturally falls into your hand the correct direction- you would have to make some convolutions to have it come away in your hand upside down. Same with the person pulling it from your mouth. In OW, I could see it- their crap is always bangly-dangly somewhere on their BC- not so in cave diving. Interesting discussion that we totally dragged off topic. :)

I have swivels on both of my sidemount regs right now. I think however that I will change out my left swivel for a fixed 90. I have my long hose on my right side and I don't think a 90 would be that great for sharing air. Does anyone have any experience sharing air with a 90? is it a PITA or does it work just fine?
Fixed 90s for the sidemount regs, no swivels or 90s on stages or backmount regs.
Swivels on the sidemount gear so far. Might change over to a 90 on the left side soon. The only redeeming feature to the omni is that you can remove it and get to your gas in an emergency, If you carry a wrench.
90's work just fine sharing air. Used 90's on my long hose in my full cave along with side mount and never even gave it a thought until I read this thread.Quote:
