Tekna DV100 DPV for sale

I have a Tekna DV100 for sale for $700.
The battery gauge has been removed, The triggers have safety pins. It has the Napa smart charger.
The batteries were new in 2010 with a 50 min, 50 sec resistor burn time.
I put a new prop seal, catalists, and body o-ring in it in 2010 when it was purchased.
Upgraded wiring - connectors. The prop was upgraded to a Dive Xtras prop.
It comes with the complete standard mako prop assy as a spare.

This is a well balanced, smooth riding scooter. Like all of Sidney's gear, it is well maintained and meticulously cared for.

I can't speak for the scooter, but I can agree that Sidney takes care of his stuff, and is an honest stand up guy.

Most people over estimate how fast their scooter is.
This scooter is the same design as the Mako.
The 2009 Tahoe Benchmark has the Mako at 130 fpm in tech configuration.

Tekna was reported to have more variation in motor performance between units than Oceanic.
Based upon scooter travel times and a comparision to a Sierra, a N-19 and a UV-26. I would say it is a little faster than 130 fpm, maybe 145... I do not see it being faster than 150.
It is definetly slower than a SS. If you dive with them they will have to back off their prop.

Along with how fast, what is the typical run time at a decent cruse speed, around 50 to 75% full speed or power?

tekna and mako have runtimes of 45 minutes. I usually got 60 minutes out of mine, but I rarely had them on continuously. Top speed was plenty fast for me, so I usually ran them on half to three-quarter speed. Sidemount with stage. They have plenty of omph to pull you and your gear and drag a buddy in cave gear too. the nice thing is they are lead-acid battery and slow down as the battery drains so you know what's coming and you have 5-10 minutes before it gets too weak to pull you. They are both nice scooters - ideal for a person's first scooter cause they are cheap, repairs are available and cheap, and batteries are available and cheap.

Looking at the data a little harder probably does 135 fpm twins and a stage, 140 fpm twins at full prop. Burntime should be over 60 minutes at full prop.
I have not done a battery burn test on it in a year so I do not want to quote anything higher at the moment.

Doing scooter math you get theoretical figures like.
75% power = 122 fpm BM + stage = 127 fpm BM = 80 min + burntime
50% power = 107 fpm BM + stage = 111 fpm backmount = 120 min burntime

Makos are all over the place in terms of performance. There are variations in batteries, motor winds and hub assemblies that all impact speed and burn time.

We have a stock mako with about a 750 rpm motor (they varied from 600-750 and the 600 rpm Makos are pretty slow) as well as two 1000 rpm wound motors with some other improvements.

The 1000 rpm makos will run with any other lead acid batteried Oceanic propped, 1000 rpm wound scooter like the Gavin or SS within the limit of the battery, and depending how things stack quality wise in the Gavin in question, an upgraded mako will outrun many of them.

I've measured speed back and forth over a 300' section of measured line in the middle of the burn in the TBM tech configuration and gotten 190-200 fpm speeds from both scooters with stock mako hubs and props and AUL hubs. The AUL hubs lack a pitch stop and will give about "11" worth of pitched compared to the "9" with the oceanic hub. But the speed increase is small and is offset by greater current draw. The Dive Extras prop assembly also lacks a pitch stop but I have not tested them for speed or efficiency, the yoke and screw are well made but the hub itself is lighter and the blades are less impressive in appearance that the Oceanic blades, but they may (or may not) be more efficient in the water.

Using data loggers we've also noted differences in efficiency with one of our 1I000 rpm makos drawing 17 amps at max speed and the other drawing 21 amps.

In most cases we run with the prop pitched at about 7 on Marci's scooter and I run a notch or so lower as I tend to be cleaner in the water - which works well as my Mako is the power hog, so it evens things out a bit. With that in mind we are getting 60 minute run times on 21 Ah powersonic batteries and we can do two 40 minute dives on a battery with a surface interval in between.

But batteries are cheap ($119 per pair, shipped, for the last two sets I've bought) and easy to change so fresh batteries are a good idea for the second dive.

When I first read the 2008 TBM my thoughts were that they tested a Mako that was a bit of a dog as even our stock mako runs faster than the one they tested and will still do 150 fpm - in the tech configuration.

At some point if I get moved to NC full time, I'll set up a TBM compliant course in the Quaribbean (Rolesville) and see how our scooters compare.
