Attach a big ol' open water scuba knife to your deco bottle as well. When the gator comes, just grab the knife, swipe your buddies leg, and swim like hell.........

If your really worried about it, put a bang stick on your deco bottle, I wouldn't carry one of those things in the cave though.

Mating season is march to April depending on temp. Bull gators get pretty territorial. So just look like a cute 6' female gator and you will be fine.
