Since no one else has yet, I'll tell you - you are not knowledgeable about the revo. There is A big difference between Internet diving and real world diving. How many ccr hours do you have? Go get certified on 3 or 4 units, put 50 hours on each and then come back and talk.

I used to be a huge fan of 4-8 airgas stuff and say the same things you said here. Until we had Paul R test it in his ANSI machine - it turns out 4-8 is much less effective than sofnolme 8-12. I'm not saying it's less safe sorb, but pound for pound it is certianly less efficient. Scientific testing goes much further than personal observations.

I think I have enough experience and hours to say with authority that the rEvo is NOT perfect.

Hell, i have no experience and hours and can say with certainty, that the Revo is not "perfect".

No rebreather is perfect, including the rEvo and I never said that it was. But it certainly isn't a 'gimmicky piece of crap' as someone stated.

Sitting back and formulating all your opinions from comparing specs is a far cry from getting real world experience diving to see what really matters in a unit.

It always makes me laugh when people knock something they've never even dove. It's like me saying diet coke tastes like ****, but I've never actually tried it.

True, but it only takes one sip to know for sure, not 50 hours on three different diet sodas :rollguy

I have almost 200 dives/hours on my rEvo now - never an issue with it.

Forrest, I'm not sure if you're making a joke or not, but if you're not, I disagree with you. In the first 20-30 hours you're still figuring out the nuances of the unit. You have not had a well rounded experience on any piece of gear after a 'try dive' or even after your first few dozen hours. This includes some of the various 'concerns' others are raising.

My point is, that if you don't have even some basic experience with something, you don't have any business commenting on it. For example, I have never dove Telford. If someone comments in a thread that Telford is a wonderful dive, and I come along and say "No Telford is an awful dive," just because I read that on the internet, what would you think of such a comment?

It seems like an absurd point to even debate.

when did Paul test sofnolime 408 against sofnolime 812?
All of the results I have seen from him he has never published a sofnolime 408 vs a sofnolime 812.
He has published sofnolime 797 vs other manufactures with those sizes.
but I have never seen him test the different sizes of sofnolime against each other.

we have even asked him to do a head to head of the 408 vs 812(797) and he declined

I have never seen a test comparing Sofnolime 4-8 with 8-12, but Airgas SODALIME 4-8 mesh was tested by Paul R, and here are his findings.

“ok, here is the result of the belgian jury.

the sorb I recieved (has no name on it, was repacked in double plastic bags) can clearly be catalogued as 'low performance sorb'

using a rEvo III standard

under CE conditions: 4°C 40m depth, air ventilation 40l/min 1.6l CO2/min

breaktrough 5mbar 65 minutes
breaktrough 20mbar 82 minutes

under exactly the same conditions there is granular sorb available that does consistently > 170 minutes till 5 mbar”

While far from the whole story; it appears the Airgas Sodasorb offers less performance than the Sofnolime stuff.
