Strange, because all I do is the modified frog kick. A normal flutter kick cramps my calf muscles very quickly. Never any problem I am aware off, but then us old farts always have pains so it's hard to differentiate them.

Very cool, people. Appreciate all the responses. Looks like the frog kick/modified frog kick/whatever you wanna call it most often tends to aggravate previous injuries.
I don't normally have a problem when swimming with the frog kick, but I have had quite severe cramps in the calf muscles and feet when hovering during deco. I think this is partly because of diving in very cold water - my legs keep warm while swimming but then tend to get cold at rest. I could of course wear (even) more underclothes, but one issue with the frog kick is that it is more delicate and requires more flexibility than flutter kicks. With two many clothes on my legs feel clumsy.
