i just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the interesting read. i'm only intro at this point, but as i look forward to full, these discussions really help to point out the potential issues you could encounter.
thanks!
marking your markers T and L is good, but it could easily kill you in no vis ie, both exits are marked, you don't know the nearest one
Not to mention the linecluttering and the need for at least 2* more markers
I've been in some pretty bad siltouts, and never so bad that I couldn't read a marker. But point taken. In that case, perhaps cut two shapes out of the markers, say a small V on one set and a flat section on the other.
I was thinking jokingly that braille would be a solution... in fact it actually would. It would not have to be overly complex, but may be more recognizable than holes (NOTE: I only have one marker with holes in it and I can tell there is a hole, but I am not convinced it would be obvious in 0 vis. YMMV). Although holes are easier to make.
If you simply had two categories of markers (IN and OUT), then you could simply have two separate stacks of markers. Another suggestion from an earlier post had each member in the team mark the T (this would obviously only work if you are in a team and further only break a tie if you are in a 3 member team). If you mess that up, then I guess you have a conundrum :)
Great thread though.
