Yup, I have a ten year old Suunto Viper that makes a very nice bottom timer in guage mode. And unlike my old Uwatec puck timer, I can replace the batteries.

Primary - Shearwater Predator SA
Backup - Uwatec SmartPro Wrist in gauge mode (Bought to use going forward as AOW) sent in for one battery replace so far.)
I download both, but do my logging in SmartTrak.
Backup backup is Genisis React Pro (picked up cheap) which came in handy as back up timer when SP battery died during trimix trip in Lake Huron.
I have a old Oceanic VEO 100 that would work perfectly as a bottom timer if you are interested. Send me a PM and I will shoot some pics over
IIRC, Sheck mentioned in Caverns using Casio watches in his crazy deep dives. Something about expensive watches always failing before their rated depth, but the cheap casios made it much deeper than rated.
